  1. All praise to these guys. A very well written account that gives you a miniscule taste of what it must have been like. I can only hope that the towns people, and those that responded, are able to rebuild their lives as well as their homes.

  2. Superb photo Steve! As you say, I love the colour.

Not surprised your still tired after all the chasing you have done this year. Definitely a fantastic experience though and worth every long day on the road and short night when watching the storms.

If you and Pete have better than you have already posted then I'm so envious, but still dying to see them.

  3. Another great set of photos Paul. The contrasts are brilliant in the 4th one.

Some of the most memorable wildlife has to be those beetles we first encountered at Childress. That noise they made as they fell on top of the cars in the parking lot outside and the state of the windscreen when we were trying to solve the 'dry county' problem.

  4. With all this time at the Big Texan you might want to warn Ian he might be subjected to the 'sniffer' test at DFW security. They seem to withhold that pleasure for the more....... portly people.

I was subjected to one of these but, with my slight frame, I still don't understand why! :wallbash:

p.s. Perhaps you should let Ian drive and you operate the Barons? :drinks::drinks:

  5. Ian is not happy Stewart!! Super 8 only had 2 rooms with 3 beds in them last night, so the snoring match between Ian & James was incredible, have great Video Footage of Ian snoring and sounding like a DOG!! He has replaced the Boy Racer snore with that of what sounds like a Rottweiler!

Good grief! It must have sounded like a cross between Battersea and Euston station. I take it sleep was a little challenging last night

At least Ian got a taste of his own medicine though!:clap:

  6. With the dirth of severe storms in the last few days the guys must have been grateful for some very well deserved R&R, after the somewhat manic time of late.

I can only hope that this forecast is right and Paul, Ian and the rest of the guys have the opportunity to see what are the most amazing scenes and bring back some cracking photos and video (hopefully they will share some with us at home).

    Good luck to you

  7. wow, thats a lot of miles.. isnt that like traveling from one end of british isles to the other...

It's the equal of driving from London to Edinburgh......... and then back again!! :) That's some going!!

  8. Billy Bob was last seen hitch hiking A lift on the I 35 with a sign for south Decota though the way he was looking he might be walking :):)

    Ian

Dang boy, that's some walk you got there. - 850 miles to Amarillo, give or take but boy is it worth it!

p.s. The airline food was outstanding and made you feel like you had never left.... :):)

  9. Hi guys,

We've both just got home now. Slightly delayed at the airport and a little bit of a bumpy ride but no real problems. We were fortunate enough to get a sort of beginners guide to/test of storms as we left DFW! CU fields, TCU, Orphaned anvil & lastly a wonderful looking storm around the Springfield area (It was probably only a single cell as it topped out around 34000 feet but the IC lightning was wonderful to watch from above and it adds a whole different perspective looking at it from that angle.)

From the looks of the SPC outlook for the next couple of days the likelyhood of significant storms is defintely there. If anyone can find them it will be you two so happy hunting!

  10. One thing to remember over here is that the most amazing photos come just when you aren't expecting them. Some of the best photos that we've had have been on the days when I thought nothing would happen.

  11. My first high risk day and it amazed me how many people suddenly arrived to chase the storms. No end of traffic jams and cars just stopping anywhere they could to watch the storms develop. With officials closing roads in some areas it made movement difficult sometimes but still some good photos including some significant tornado damage in Claflin.
