  1. Snaw falling gently here & we now have a covering. 0.3ºC/0ºC
  2. Have just had a very heavy shower here. Started as sleet with the odd wet snawflake and then got going properly: Now off again, but we have a bare covering on the grass. Temp dived from 4.1ºC to 1.8ºC mid-shower after an overnight high of 7.1ºC. 'Mon the snaw!
  3. I do sometimes think that we'd need to have a 'Day After Tomorrow' type scenario before the Met Office would give us a proper warning. Still, hopefully after 2014, we'll get more a more bespoke kilted weather service... Very blawy here this morning and the sky to the south-west is looking threatening.
  4. Appearing in the Cold Rampers Anonymous Model Thread soon:
  5. Pub run is trying for the Greenie High & a northerly in FI. Long way out yet but hopeful signs. Just need to shunt it a wee bit west and OOFT! All together now...BLAW!
  6. Snow cover intact here. Steady thaw during the day and the rain is now belting down. Not making a huge impact yet - still pretty chilly oot. Currently 1.2ºC/1ºC Max 3.1ºC Min -0.7ºC So, not exactly tropical today... Going by the latest ECM and GFS, we could be looking at chillier weather again as early as next weekend and the longer term signals still point to a return to the freezer later on in the first week in Feb. GP's just posted this in the strat thread, too, which gives grounds for optimism (for coldies): http://forum.netweat...80#entry2575197 Hopefully, this time, the snaw will return for all kilters.
  7. Northerly in time for next weekend? Less unrelenting mild, more a 'less cold' blip on this output...
  8. Happy Burns Nicht to all. Beware the Giant Haggis in the snaw...
  9. Lurgied up with the manflu up here in Crieff but reporting in now. Very heavy snow the past few hours. Has been on since early this morning but really pepped up around midday. Has already dumped more in past 5 hours than the 30+ hours outbreak did earlier in the week - several inches. Transport kyboshed (to use the technical term). 4x4s stuck up the town. 0.3ºC/DP1ºC Big snaw: OOOOOFFFFFFFTTTTTT! Pics attached. Witness the Knock (big hill in Crieff) having a whiteyoot in the 1st one.
  10. In the name of the wee man, is there anything left for these numpties to screw up... http://www.scotsman....under-1-2749013 The City Council would have been better issuing the denizens of Embra with one of these...each (would have been cheaper!): Oh aye, the weather. It has finally stopped snawing raining sleeting precipitating and is now just cold, overcast and raw with a layer of thawing snaw. And it's dark. Braw!
  11. New emergency bus service announced for rural Perthshire:
  12. Main snow chucked it earlier this afternoon...for a wee while. Then came back on as rain/sleet/wet snow and is now snowing like billyo once again. Is still doing its snowing and thawing at the same time act, so still only a few inches lying. Currently 0.7ºC/1ºC. Will be fun and games if/as/when this lot freezes, though am looking forward to a cold, crisp, clear night so I can get a good look at this fellow again:
  13. Enjoy next week's mild blip. Matt Hugo's just tweeted this: â€@MattHugo81 Subtle signs of a change within the ECM ensembles beyond 4th/5th with the Atlantic flow being disrupted by higher pressure. 26 out of the 51 ensemble members signal a more anticyclonic influence by the 6th of Feb, with a far 'quieter' Atlantic. If this were twitter, I'd now think of a suitable hashtag like #headingbackintaethefreezer but as it is, I'll restrain myself to a brief WOOHOO!!! and a comedy snawman.
  14. We've now had over 24 hours of non-stop snow and this is the result: Not as much as Braco but a decent amount has fallen and lain. Bizarrely, it appears that we've added only a little since late last night as it's falling and thawing at the same time, but nonetheless it all looks grand and winter wonderlandy. Currently T0.9ºC/DP1ºC. More to follow? We shall see!
  15. We have a few inches of fresh snow here. That's around 15 hours of non-stop snow we've now had, but it didn't really begin to stick until well after nightfall. However, it's now going for it and the temp is falling ever so slowly. If it keeps up until the morning at the current rate, it could be a proper whumphing. Big if mind you. Max today 1.0ºC; Min 0.2ºC. Current 0.2ºC/1ºC.
  16. We bring you some brand new research on the interaction of snow and the place we shall call "the south":
  17. Some heavier stuff on again and it's lying more readily now, too. Could yet be memorable. 'Mon the snaw!
  18. For those of us who have snaw, we can rely on NW. For all those snowless Kilters out there but still keeping the faith, I give you...
