  1. Solution found to Weegie/Central Belt/snowless Kilters snowshield:
  2. Hmmm, this is a strange snaw 'event' all right. Snowing steadily now since 6am, occasionally heavy, but the ground has gone a bit* In the meantime, here are a couple more snaps of the Knock (local hill) and the fields at the edge of town disappearing into the most persistent (yet crap) snowfall I've seen in a while. * wouldn't let it lie. I'll get my coat...I'll be needing it for the snaw...
  3. According to Sean B, the good stuff is on its way for some kilters: https://twitter.com/...3750400/photo/1
  4. Surely grebes...? Back on topic, the 06z GFS isn't exactly toasty for Scotland as far out as next Sunday; a lot of surface cold still around. Breakdown 'nailed on'? We shall see.
  5. Latest travel advice from the Scottish Government just in:
  6. Big snow in Crieff. Looks like it's on for the day. WOOHOOO!!!!! Pic doesn't really do it justice but this is the view of the Knock (local hill) in Crieff right now. Could be heading for a whiteout...
  7. A few flakes here. The wind has picked up and it feels raw. Flakes are birling around in it. 0.3ºC/-3ºC Snow still lying everywhere. Has attempted a to thaw a little bit but freezing up again tonight. I think tonight/tomorrow's weather could be a bit special for lots of kilters.
  8. And finally, a special Weather Advisory for our southern cousins and the EBC BBC. Bless.
  9. Scotrail unveils its secret weapon for Monday's rush hour:

  11. Latest Met Office weather warning for Scotland issued:
  12. Big snowflakes and rather heavy now in Crieff. Birling around in the wind, too. T0.4ºC/DP0ºC Boy PG (aged 2½) saw the big stuff starting properly just before he went down to sleep and promptly went hyper. Dat's ma boy!
  13. Absolutely. Looks like it's the ECM & UKMO (keep the cold & snaw) vs the GFS (hello, Mr Atlantic) once again. Know what I'm backing...
  14. Looks like the snaw is going to deliver for most kilters over time this evening. Good stuff. Going by this evening's ECM, doesn't look like the cold is going anywhere, either. A random piece of meteorological porn chart to illustrate that it's here, it's here to stay and the Atlantic has been told to 'awa' an' bile yer heid'.
  15. Coming to a chippie near you: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-tayside-central-21079285 Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase 'fruits of the sea'. Perfect for frying those 'fusion food' Tesco burgers that are all the rage right now.
  16. Permission for minor girn. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-21062981 A useful* interactive clickable map from the EBC BBC. Would have been even more useful if they'd remembered that the UK exists north of the midlands, though for once, they do appear to be getting a whumphing 'darn sarf'. Bless them, the puir wee sowels. Girn over. *almost as 'useful' as the Beeb's 5 day forecast.
  17. Sun explodes, it all goes dark, the next ice age starts immediately, perpetual snow (even for Edinburgh and the Central Belt) and Ian Brown disappears into a snowhole never to be seen again. Bring it on.
  18. As the light fades, light snow has begun in Crieff and it's lying immediately. 0.2ºC/-3ºC Back of the net.
