  1. Wind rising and veering NNW now, and pressure rising...so the low is off and moving in a generally eastward direction. Temp still above zero, with dewpoint at freezing. That should drop as the low moves away east. My sense is that the low is perhaps a little further north than the compooters reckoned on their last runs. I don't think it is all over for Somerset...if the low moves more eastwards, as Richard Angwin just suggested, then the southward wrap could hit Somerset harder than Devon. And, anyway, looks like there will be further snow as the low eventually sinks south tomorrow afternoon.
  2. The technology defeated me first time, but here is the latest NW radar with isobars. BA9 is Wincanton.
  3. Looks like the centre of the low is about as shown on the attached. 999.5mb here at present, and falling, with wind from the NW, so it might be that it is slightly further north.
  4. Of course, if the whole show does move further east than expected, one of the consequences would be that the impact of the wrap would move eastward too, meaning the Somerset/Dorset area might get a dose on the rebound tomorrow morning.....
  5. I reckon you'll get a fair bit....not least as I need to use the airport tomorrow, so Sod's Law says that it will be knackered!
  6. Maybe NAE has overegged it eastwards? GFS might be the winner on this one.
  7. Not sure if it makes any difference to the eventual outcome, but the low pressure centre seems to be forming now over Somerset/Wiltshire, and very in line with the GFS noon prediction. NAE had it all slightly further south and east at the same time. Temp here slowly (very) falling at 1.2 C, DP 0.6 C.
  8. Here's the latest prediction of snow depth at midnight on Thursday.
  9. Certainly not seen the main event yet. Models now suggest the snowfall amounts will be less, further east (and north - so Bristol/Gloucestershire should get a bit) and it will all be a bit later than suggested - early hours of Wednesday. Dorset looks like getting off pretty lightly, and I am going to put away the shovel and broom I got out earlier!
  10. I wouldn't be surprised if this all ended a bit further east........
  11. On the radar, the lump between Brest peninsular and Lyme Bay is the bit to watch. That's the developing low.
  12. Temp dropping off now - looks like we've seen today's high.
  13. Snow very light here, and not settling at present.
  14. Just started to snow here. Temp 2.1, DP 1.5; temp rise seems to have stalled now - steady at that level.
  15. Awaiting the main event with interest, but currently still very cold in SE Somerset. Temp -4.6 C, DP -5.3 C, having been down to -9.5/-10.4 C overnight. Currently temp rise has stalled, and is momentarily dropping again (from a high of -4.4 C).
