  1. Oh my god we just had crazy weather, was at bowls and we just had a cracking little thunderstorm right over head, the rain was torrential then the hail came which was very very heavy, evryone looked out side and huge lightning strike right above us with an instant explosion of thunder and there wa smore very loud thunder and lightning. The winds winds have also crazy must of been close to 80mph.

we are now currenty under very heavy torrentia downpour with hail.

    I love this weather

  2. Hi all

we had a very eventful evening yesterday with lots of heavy showers with some hail and there was some lightning too.

Anyway this morning started off on a dry note but weve had some showers creep in and it is now raining but not heavy, It is rather breezy out which is making it feel quite chilly which the current temperature is at 8.5c.

    Overnight Low 4.3c

    Have a nice day

  3. Oh yes! I saw a couple of nicely formed, robust CBs around 6-6:30pm off to my S and SE en route home from work! Some very nice anvils with them too.

From my view point, I was thinking sferics were looking very likely!

For those members based along the S Coast and Channel Isles, Becky Mantin talking of further heavy showers or thunderstorms blowing up the Channel regions later on and overnight! Something for you guys to keep an eye out for - never know, with clear skies forecast here, may even be lucky enough to see some distant flashing myself biggrin.gif

N.B Not exactly convection related, but my GOD!! it felt cold today in that wind! It was the first time since May I've felt less than warm...certainly the first real taste of Autumn here huh.gif

    talking about that

there is some amazing skies out to sea and looks thundery

  4. I think during any plume events, you are in one of the prime positions Lightningboy! Even if the storms do not hit you direct, you have a clear view (assuming clear skies of course) of cells to your E, W, SE, SW etc...not only this, you have arguably the best views of the cells structure (wide open expanse of the channel), AND, best views of the cells when they are often at their strongest!

Agreed, it is too early to speculate who will get what, but I am jealous of the views you are likely to get of whatever happens.

yh i must admit we do have excellant views lookin goout to see and seeing if the storms move towards kent but thats when im up culver down i think it will be similar to last year bu tyeh too early say but if it were to happen i gota good view of the lightning for hours going towards kent and the east my mates dad got some amazing pics and he let me have ago. but im keeping my fingers crosse

  5. for winter i give 8/10 loads of frosts and some extremely cold nights but ill never forget the star of feb we had a rare snow event especially ont he island where it snowed on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd the 3rd of feb was the msot snow i have ever seen as i was only born in 1993 so it was quite memorale,

spring 5/10 not much weather about but had a nice storm in april which produced a tornado i think on west of island i think it was the 28th,

summer 6/10- June and the start of july was very nice with lotsof hot sunshine and also had some good thunderstorms aswelllast thursday brang 3 brilliant storms especially 2nd and 3rd storm, but since july has been ok but quite dull at times with rain and especially some strong winds,

overall i rate the year so far 6/10

  6. well the lightnign went on for a couple of hours but most of it was in cowes way apparently by the time the thunder arrived proper the lgihtning dided out and just gave heavy rain even though there was still a few rumbles and the odd flashb this was around 1:45 and thunder lightning stopped around 2:30 i think, well i fell asleep so i dont know lol.

thoguh was nice to watch the lightnining even though most was out at sea
