  1. Highly doubt it. As we progress through the day it will become more and more confined to the extreme north of our region. It is no longer a Cheshire Gap streamer as the winds are too westerly. They will eventually just slam straight into the west coast and head straight for the Pennines.
  2. We got a warning for 5cm last night in "many areas". I don't think anywhere in Staffordshire even got 2cm, I got a mere dusting. The Met Office warnings seem to have gone even more OTT this winter, that red warning in the south east the other day perflectly reflects this. At least the showers are now passing well to the north of me, not a few miles down the road. Makes it much less annoying.
  3. Using the Met Office warning translator: Derby and Derbyshire may get an occasional rogue shower, possibly giving a dusting or even a cm or two
  4. The wind will only veer more westerly as the day goes on, so looks like I am out of it today. Hopefully some showers can come over the Welsh mountains without dying, but that's a big ask.
  5. Agreed, Stoke will get a battering. The rest of Staffordshire will get the od rogue shower and the East Midlands could get a few. The rest of the Midlands can pretty much forget it.
  6. I think our best hope now lies with the inevitable push from the Atlantic. Got down to -6.7c last night, considering it didn't get below freezing until after midnight that is pretty good going.
  7. Argh, the Cheshire Gap effect IS working, but they look like to be passing to my north! Too much of a westerly component
  8. I think the following image adequately sums up this snow "event":
  9. Ok enough of dreaming, back to reality... Mildly warm days where it rains most of the time with the odd extremely uncomfortable hot spell - no thanks!
  10. If it's any consolation we could see a sub -10c next week. If we can't have snow then severe frosts will do. But surely some of those beefy showers in Scotland will filter into Staffordshire tomorrow? Or will the luck of the Midlanders strike again...
  11. We may all be jealous of the East, but we will get our own back. In 50 years time if all the global warmists are to believed they will be underwater, while we Midlanders will be nice and dry and will be able to have settling snow. Have that you jammy easterners.
  12. Quote from the Met Office: A band of heavy snow will spread from the north during Saturday evening, clearing away southeastwards during the early hours of Sunday morning. Accumulations of around 5 cm are expected in many locations with up to 10 cm across high ground. The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the 'Highways Agency' for further advice on traffic disruption on Motorways and Trunk roads. I live in Staffordshire, I do not have 5cm of snow. Nobody on here from Staffordshire, Stoke or Warwickshire has 5cm. Darren Bett on BBC a few hours ago said around 5cm for central England. Therefore, BBC and Met Office got it completely wrong.
  13. Well I now have a dusting of snow, nothing more. Looking at those showers in Scotland now, I can only hope that a few will come down the Irish Sea and the Cheshire Gap will save the day. If it does then I am creating a Cheshire Gap appreciation society...
  14. So once again the Met Office striker another blow to quality weather forecasting. 5cm Met Office? HA! I propose a new rule of weather forecasting: Whatever the Met Office predicts as the snow depth for your location, divide by 10 to get the amount you will actually receive. Try it out, I am sure you will be amazed at the accuracy of it.
  15. But I have to say - once again - that the Met Office have gone completely over the top with these warnings. "5cm in most places" - don't make me laugh. I don't even have 0.5cm. Looks pretty outside though.
  16. Thick snow here with big flakes, nothing settling though...yet.
  17. Moderate snow now here as well after a brief spell of sleet. My angry tirade worked, doubt it will settle though, isn't going to last anywhere near long enough.
  18. What an absolute effing let down. To those who have rain/sleet, at least you have something! The NW radar says I am slap bang in the middle of it, yet nothing, absolutely nothing is falling from the sky. Is this some kind of joke? Because I am certainly not laughing, sod this.
  19. To those using the NW radar, use it with a shovel of salt. I am apparently under moderate precipitation, and nothing is falling out of the sky now.
  20. Right, I am throwing in the towel now. Raining, temperature continuing to rise and there isn't much PPN left. Hope the rest of you enjoy what you get.
  21. Just had some sleet, despite sub-zero temps and dew points.
