  1. I think the general consensus is that there is a band of reasonably heavy snow heading this way... wouldn't bet my life on it though
  2. cold over any snow fields... my max today was -2.4C ... which means that the lovely fluffy snow is now covering all the ice on the roads, but the amount of snow on the ponds is quite funny
  3. TWS, do you see the main band making it down generally to this area later?
  4. haha, so it did make it down there... yeah you swing a left at the palm trees and head for the sea (altho im led to believe its not as warm - certainly wasn't in Polzeath last week - Brrrr)
  5. Overnight low of -5.3C, reaching the dizzy heights of -2.4C at about midday, since then temps dropped again to -3.3C. Winds from the North or NE most of the day and frequent heavy snow showers since 1pm have left about 3cm covering on all surfaces. Pressure still dropping, currently 995mb with a dewpoint of -5C and 88% humidity
  6. Its pretty localised down here, we have had upwards of 3cm here, but just the otherside of the moor (on the southern side) have had nothing, not even rain. Starting to snow again here tho, temps have dropped to -3.3C and the pressure is falling away... quite hopeful about this evening.
  7. Suns gone, with temps remaining below -2C and its getting alot darker from the north again... just looks like... winter!!
  8. Its what the 06z suggested from what I can see, from about 6pm tonight onwards it looks quite interesting... could be reading it all wrong tho
  9. If this: Sat24 can keep pivoting we could be in for quite a pasting!
  10. The direction is where the wind comes from, not where its going, the wind is likely coming from the N or NE at the moment... at least here, as the snow is coming from that direction.
  11. South Westerly? Its more of a NE'rly surely? EDIT: The sun has come out, but there is a pretty good cover out there, with more likely.
  12. Lots of quite beefy showers showing up on the MO rainfall radar, so Im guessing most places will see something from now on, and yup as temps fall it should just get better. Stopped here for the moment, but thats nearly an hour of heavy snow and its all settled and looking lovely out...
  13. Not sure if this was what Roger was getting at, but for the last 45mins its been snowing very hard here, settling with temps at -2.3C .... infact as I type its a total whiteout. ... Lovely.
  14. Still snowing, and settled straight away... helped by the fact the temp is -2.3C. Some lovely big flakes to!
  15. heavy snow up here now for the last 30mins, settling to a couple of CM's at the moment, and continuing! Prayers answered!
  16. The higher moor to my NE has just disappeared in a cloud of white stuff... so 5mins time it might be snowing here! (or less, those clouds are really moving some!)
  17. Count yourself lucky... where I live they can't even get the gritters down the road... usually we get bags of salt but haven't seen any for a few years... hence why my road is like an ice rink at the moment with the spring from further up flows over it... sheet ice, with snow on top and granite boulders just under the hedges... gotta love Dartmoor.
  18. Finally... some light, and that may be an understatement, snow!
  19. Hmm, pressure has been steadily dropping over the last few hours, currently down to 998mb, temp holding steady at -3.3C with the dewpoint well below -5C ... heres hoping.
  20. With the sun streaming through the window... is there really any chance of anything for central devon soutwards? I see from Rogers post he is expecting something to develop later today, but I just can't see it.
  21. Not a sausage here! The ponds are all very frozen but the ground is bone dry and the sun is trying to break through... oh well, that'll be a NO event then. :o Winds from just off N with the temp at -3.5C after an overnight low of -5.6C
  22. As usual the carrot at the end of the stick! Its now reading -4.4C out there now, -11.8C in the wind... but the moon is out so no snow... we can live in hope.
  23. very clear here.... whats the point in all this elevation if no ppn comes along! hehe
