  1. If however the Express's aim was to seek attention, this thread proves it works
  2. If the cooling trend continues for the next 18 months or so(if)then surely it will be accepted that we just don't know what's happening and our abiltity to interperate the complexities of the global climate are basicaly flawed, this period of time could be placed in the historical scientific footnotes as 'could/should have done better' An honest unbiased graph of what's been happening temp' wise would be a marvellous read indeed, does such an item exist I wonder?
  3. Well played Ossie mate,top post.......................Phil
  4. Well all I can possibly say to such a well presented and eloquently put arguement is I may disagree on a few points but you can't argue with the intelligence and heartfelt belief behind that amazing post!. Thank you osmposm............I will certainly take that information onboard You are an absolute Gentleman.
  5. So basically osmposm your saying that the data can be manipulated to tell a tale either way......then what's the point? As you say it's too soon to tell globaly so maybe debating regional climate change would be the way forward?
  6. :o so it's not just mine paul hin? No need for attitudes or egos as potty says, but it is a fascinating debate
  7. Well I must say that's well said Noggin.............all you can do is look at the facts,if the Earth is cooling then it's obviously not warming....simple as,I fail to see the debate in that.If it were warming I'd agree with the facts there.
  8. I think most people appreciate that a stable climate was the kick start to human civilisation. So when the fossil resources are exhausted will everything be 'hunky dory'? I'm not saying we're heating /cooling but merely putting forward the idea that if you go looking for something you'll find what you want to find......so you feel we're warming? I believe it's Earths natural cycle, great! time will tell.
  9. Does the elephant even care that the ants are there though, let alone cause it an itch? There have been umpteen dramatic climate changes in Earths history as well as mass extinctions, the last great one being the reason we are all here.............or were humans responsible for all of that?Nope,so why do people believe that we are now? Humans are part of nature,as such might it not be argued that we are doing what comes naturaly and it's all just part of the grand scheme of things...........cattle produce methane as part of their natural process and yet they carry no guilt, humans produce carbon emissions as part of daily existance and to maintain a standard of life. In theory if enough CO2 gets into the atmosphere then yes warming will occur but in practice the Earth's own checks and balances counter act our tiny contribution surely?
  10. *sigh* I'm not saying we don't affect it,my question is to what extent.....minimal in my opinion is all
  11. it's where I stumbled upon the question but as the tv (no matter how polite I ask won't answer my questions in more depth) SO THOUGHT...I know, there's a weather forum with helpful knowlegable folk on there who may assist in the learners area. B) Such as Brickfielder as an example of that..................thanks BF
  12. I refer more to extent of influence as apposed to actual influence........merely trying to point out I feel we are like ants argueing over who owns the elephant we're sitting on. Do we really make any difference?
  13. Yup cycles that take eons, decades and even a matter of short years but the fact is the Earth's been warmer and cooler in the past and will continue to do what it may,I feel it's rather arrogant of the human race to assume we can control or rather influence the climate in any significant way.
  14. I would've thought you'd be idealy positioned cooks?
  15. Erm......................dare one inquire creppy? do you have a piccy of a black widows nest?..............toes are curling at the thought!
  16. I immagine this question has been asked before but i'm curious as to how a sunspot/magnetic storm occurs and how it affects our climate. Also why do sunspots or the lack of cause hale winters?.
  17. I agree with the previous two posts also Climate wars tonight at 9pm on beeb 2 may be a good view
