NAE has the rain intensifying slightly as it passes to the east during tomorrow, which explains why the GFS is picking up higher totals in the east: EDIT: Having said that, the precipitation accumulation totals for the next 48 hours is still greater in the north and west according to the NAE, apart from a little patch on the south coast. Cumbria/North Wales and western Scotland look set to get the most rain. -

Unfortunately charts from T384 are completely useless when the position of this week's low pressure changes with every run! Impossible to say how things are going to pan out further down the line at this stage. At the moment it looks like a wet and windy period for the UK with areas of rain and strong winds passing down from the northwest from late Tuesday onwards. The low pressure hangs around for a long time with further periods of unsettled weather moving across the country before the system eventually clears to the northeast next weekend. -
Can't quite believe how persistent the rain has been over the past 48 hours. I'm in York and it's been raining constantly since about 10am yesterday, only briefly stopping overnight to become constant and heavy once again today. The rain just seems to be lodged over us as the system rotates; it's still coming down heavily here, the River Ouse in the city centre is 3.17m above normal and isn't expected to peak until tomorrow! Looks like a few unfortunate people are going to have their homes flooded. Take care everyone.

Yorkshire And Lincolnshire Regional Discussion Thread Part 3
Cold Winter replied to kold weather's topic in Regional
Snowed moderately here since about 3pm, lighter snow before that from 1pm. We've had a few cms in that time so am surprised by the reports from some members of a few inches in their area - looks like some people have done very well! -

Still snowing moderate to heavy here in Pocklington - a decent covering on cars and in places where snow had disappeared off the roads. Adding to the fair amount that was already left over from the weekend though! I haven't seen the forecast or looked at charts today but is this meant to be heading southwest towards the Midlands? I presume there's going to be some SW movement at some point then? -

Snowing moderately in Pocklington - hope it doesn't turn to rain!! -
The precipitation - whatever it turns out to be - looks like being across the region for approximately 6 hours judging by both the GFS and NAE... whether it's rain or snow we'll have to wait and see. Perhaps a more experienced member could give us an idea on where in our region is looking good for snow and where is looking marginal? I'm in East Yorkshire and we've always been forecast to have a decent period of snow but we're on the very edge of the main area, so some reassurance would be nice!

GFS 12z rolling out now and it appears to be better for snow lovers across our region with the precipitation moving in slightly later and the snow risk extending a little further west. Must remember it's only one run though and there's still a long way to go before we know exactly what's going to happen... and that may well not be until the event is right on our doorsteps.

Well, BBC Weather are currently suggesting 5-10cm widely just from the snow coming down from the north on Tuesday, with up to 15cm in some areas. Then there are also snow showers possible for the rest of the week. But anyway, predicting the quantity of snow is very difficult until very close to the time, we should just be grateful we have snow!
