Can confirm- light snow in Pontyates! Just seen Derek's forecast and it seems pretty nailed on! Could it be two Snow Days in one week? There's still pretty full snow cover here, so here's hoping for another few inches!
The sky has had that 'heavy' look to it all afternoon- proper winter, this. Ace!

Blizzard conditions and drifting here, anothe inch has fallen in the last 40 minutes
Similar in Pontyates. Snow blowing off roofs and across roads etc. Still -2deg at 113m asl. Conditions have worsened significantly in the last hour. What's most surprising is that it's still so cold and that these snow bands are actually heading in off the sea from a SW direction. Just goes to show the value of low 850s and a relativiely warm sea giving them all that extra energy!

Good news: a solid 6" in Pontyates Carmarthenshire, still snowing hard and now blowing round in the strengthening wind!
Bad news: my school still not officially shut- hummph... I'm going in late at best!

Been woken by the sound of silence! Very heavy snow falling in Pontyates, Carmarthenshire now and temp where it has been all evening at -1.4 degrees. We've 4/5" and the chances of my school being closed increase with every flake. Just another couple of hours of this and job done!

sorry Ben, forgive me. what are 850's?
woody
I believe (and I'm happy to be corrected!) it's the upper(ish) atmosphere temperature where the precipitation is falling from. Generally it needs to be (in conjunction with other factors (dew points etc)) -5 or lower, though there are situaions where it can be not as low as -5 and still produce snow- I think! So -7 is on the right side, just.

It's getting warmer by the ruddy minute, thats what. Its now 2.6c, and I'm giving up hope here in Milford

Looking marginal then, to say the least. Your 850s are between -7 and -8, so you might be ok?!

Well, it's been snowing lightly for an hour now in Pontyates (113m asl -1.5 degrees), Carmarthenshire and has just started to really get going.
Been out for a brief walk and the lights across the valley are now hidden behind a thick veil of snow.
Returned to find the precipitation to the north has really intensified (think it's beginning to pick up a little energy from the Irish Sea) and here's hoping it has set in for a couple of hours!
What's happening in Pembrokeshire, anybody? I'm looking for a school closure tomorrow (teachers want the snow as much as the kids!)
Have a Happy Snow Day!
PS Bought the Net Weather radar for a month this morning- haven't got much work done today!

Is it me, or does that precipitation coming out of Brittany look a long way west? Is it this that's supposed to give tonight's snow to central southern England? If I didn't know better, I'd say that was going to affect areas further west than previously thought. Any thoughts?
