I'd keep a close eye on the weather mate seems more easterly winds are progged for next week with a snow front coming in also - Sorry!
I guess the easterly is the last thing I want getting away from Heathrow. Fingers crossed, I'm sure you guys can wait till Friday for a bit more!! -
So happy! Another 5 inches overnight in Newport and it's still going, although it will probably die out soon! I wanted one last dumping before I go to travelling to Thailand for 7 weeks next Thursday. Will I have problems getting away from Heathrow!? i don't mind if the weekend onwards until then gets mild, followed by an epic February for you guys, which sees a bit more snow for me when I'm back in March!

Nothing happening in Newport as we speak - but 16:30 I'm off home to the Rhymney Valley then down to Cardiff for the night - want it to snow- but not heavy until I can get back into the Valleys before midnight - perhaps not the smartest thing I'll ever do but fingers crossed
Whereabouts are you? There are a few flakes blowing around here in Bassaleg. Hopefully it's just getting started. Looks like it's petering out a bit on the NW radar though- really hope not.
Edit- Just going heavy now, small flakes though at the moment being blown about a bit.

Just went for a smoke, and my hands nearly dropped off. Strong ENE wind in Newport, and a mini flurry of snow. Either that or a lot of snow blowing around in the wind! -
Snowing lightly again in Newport. The very smallest of flakes. Have had the slightest of thaws in the two hours break. Will the 'band' die out though?

Oh well, can't complain- best snowfall for me since Feb '96 I think. Snow cover lasted five days then, would be great to see something similar this year.

We've still got really strong, fine snow in Newport. is this the tail end? Around 7- 8 inches so far, preventing me getting into work this morning...happy days!

Heavy snow now for around 30/45 mins in Newport. Around 1cm accumulated so far...please keep going!

Heavy snow in Newport now for 20 mins or so. Settling on cars, roofs and grass, would be nice to see it hold out for a few hours, even if I am on a night shift in work! Is it more likely to turn to rain though?

5 minutes of heavy dandruff in Newport, which has just turned back into full on rain. Fantastic. This 'snow event' has been more dissapointing than last week. At least then it was either cold and sunny or snowy. I hate in bewtweens!

Around 2cm this afternoon in West Newport, followed by a slight thaw. We've had clear skies for a good two hours though, all the remaining snow frozen over completely. Still see the moon though, can we expect any rain/sleet or snow here? I would prefer nothing if it's rain/sleet.

Still being mentioned in the News 24 headlines that it's expected Sussex, some other southern counties, the south west, southern wales and parts of the midlands will get blizzards. Seems strange, can't work out how any ppn will hit even us here in Newport. Seems the BBC weather/ met office don't predict it will hit Wales either. What does anyone know atm though?

It's my football leanings that lead me to that username...highly original I know! Fingers crossed. It's turned inoto sleety snow now, but a covering in 5 mins, so the best we've had so far. Hoping to get what you've had, just glued to rain today! -

We've just had a few dark cumulus pass over us in Newport, but it's all sunny again. Seems a bit more dark cloud to the east, but losing hope.

Gone from 5.2c to 4.4 in the space of 20 mins in Newport, South Wales. Dew point 3.3. And it's been hammering it down with rain all day.
Good luck (aslong as you like it...) to everyone North England upwards who hasn't had any snow yet. At least you have a chance!
