Day of two halves.. dawned cold, widespread air frost. Travelling through central lakes was great, frost glistening on the fields and the trees by Naddle Valley, suspect it went down to -3 degrees in prone spots.

Alas the cloud invaded, rain set by noon, making for a cold drab wet afternoon.

    I had a low of -3.6c

A cold rather wet November day so far, cloud shrouding the fell tops. Current temp a chilly 7.6 degrees.

Suspect the very high tops will have a white mantle.

We are entering a coldish spell for early November, frost and 3 cold  days beckon.

Yes both Great Dodd and Blencathra have coverings

These were from earlier (so not uptodate now) but the Social Media posts manage to separate  and yet the actual warning page for public to use, is so cluttered and unclear

Last of the late season warmth today? We shall see, but we are now into mid October, the sun has same strength as late February.

A rather dull damp day at times.

Looking forward to crisper sunny days by the end of week, and probably that first feel of proper Autumn.

Snow being forecast over Blencathra at times for the weekend

Hit bang on here, big thundery lightening downpour. Lots of people out and about shorts and t- shirts. caught out...

Just checked on all my local summits and can see many of walkers on the high points. Presumably not many appreciate the danger of lightning and a mountain environment.

Well that was a write off day, incessant gloom to valley level all day, persistant fine drizzle after moderate rain earlier on.

A little brighter up here in the northern lakes this morning although very low cloud has most of the tops covered. I can however, see that High Rigg and Catbells are clear. Overnight dry, 0.5mm of drizzle has fallen since 0600. Overnight low temp, a muggy 15.8c and now 17.0c. My weather station is forecasting the strongest winds over the next 7 days since 9 April and rain falling on every day accept tomorrow. Temperatures below 20c for the next 7 days. What a contrast.
