  1. Far, far to marginal for SE I'm sad to say. You'll find any hopes of snow will diminish come tomorrow afternoon in forecasts. We may see Sleet, and the odd Heavy burst of wet snow. Our best hope is for Tuesday night, as by day, any snow will turn back to rain, as temps are likely to rise to the dizzy heights of 5c to 6c degrees. Best forgetting this cool spell, it's been hugely downgraded from it's original potential from last week, despite it snowing it most parts, only resulted in dustings really, and rapid melt.
  2. My gosh! There has been so much chopping and changing, agreement in models, to no agreement, this, that, the other! It's dizzy stuff! Met Office are seeing a trend to a SE-E flow in the coming weeks, until that gets updated, then I will be monitoring that. I do believe seeing as the models are throwing our hopes, and emotions every which way, I personally think things will swing towards a SE flow, thus bringing another cold spell of sorts, and a snow threat will again come above us very soon after this latest predicted brief milder spell during the early part of next week.
  3. I am among the many that are very confused as to how this forecasted snow is a complete 'Non event'. It seems the weather has gone a little ' T**s UP!' Wales and the SW are getting snow as predicted this would happen later today. Francis Wilson said this would happen, but he also mentioned yesterday that the snow that Wales and the SW have now would fall yesterday evening, and this morning in to the afternoon before moving west. Well most of us can easily see, that it's diminished, and somehow, bizarely, our precipitaiton has vanished, and we are experiencing a slow thaw. Temps are slightly up, and there is no 'Cut through you' NE biting wind! Very misleading and confusing. Powdery snow was due to blow around in the wind, moderate/light, dull leaden skies etc, etc, but as I look out of my window, well it's dry, snow melting, no precipitation for the last 8 hours here in West Essex! But of a joke really for snow and cold enthusiasts. I cannot see how powdery snow will fall today, unless in any precipitation the temps fall sharply. Me thinks maybe later today in to this evening will bring what has been forecast for us today. Kent, the far SE are getting what has been forecast, but as it's already been debated, the SE is bigger than Kent, and there is a lot of disappointment in here today. Wierd feeling we've missed something here, the BBC & Sky News have us all dumbfounded at the minute. This has happend before, and I think some warmer air in and around us has caused some places to receive sleet and in some places drizzly rain! My prediction is, for showers to continue to plague the coasts of EA and the SE, before some more general rain, sleet and snow crosses the region later on today, as by looking at the European radar, activity is brewing, although saying that, as it marches across Belgium, Holland, it seems to be becoming more and more patchy and isolated. A bit of a headache situation for weather forecasting. Met Office have now backtracked on any in force warnings for the SE, except Kent and Sussex for today. I guess it's a NOWCAST situation we find ourselves in to rely on. Things can change quickly, so it's edge of your seat times if you want snow, get the cigars out if you want a thaw and less snow at the moment.
  4. Once the wind which incidently is quite stubborn in the fact it's got a more NNE direction to it (The main reason why Kent is getting bucket loads), becomes a more EASTERLY, slight NE as predicted, then London will get this good stuff (Powdery Snow) blowing in. I think tonight/overnight, into tomorrow morning, there after a brief lull during the early afternoon, then in to Monday, through to Weds, it will be excellent for some half decent snowfall. I predict we will see some surprises during next week, before maybe less cold weather may bring a very slow thaw, then a reload is possible, with an even colder blast from the east. Very exciting times ahead for cold enthusiasts, but at the same time, there are people that are genuinely suffering from this cold spell, and it's causing hardship, and potential life threatning circumstances to the obvious vulnerable. What ever your view, how good, bad this spell as been for you, this cold spell will go down in history, and remember it's only early January, I think there will a lot more to come, though not necessarily for the SE as such.
  5. I hope a slight detection of negativity isn't creeping in for Londoners. The forecast is superb for snow to become widespread across the region, and Monday looks good as well. Of course there is some favourable rural areas that will over shadow any of our snowfall, but for all of tonight beyond 9pm, it's looking overcast with snow, heavy at times.
  6. Can I all Kent members pretend it's sleet and rain, this is painful! lol Paitence is......well, it's wearing thin already!
  7. The Snow bands will eventually cover the whole London region, more so this evening. Can be quite confusing as winds will become stronger NE'ly, but the precipitation is pushing in, in a NW'ly direction as we speak, hence why the BBC & The Met Office go with Kent and Sussex bearing the brunt of the heavier showers that will merge to longer and frequent spells of snow for some time before it moves away west tomorrow afternoon leaving light to moderate showers in it's wake. Overall I feel 2-10cm for London, further south and east will no doubt receive 10-20cm, perhaps more judging by the amounts there already getting. Enjoy it! It's coming.
  8. No Snow show is over, it's Snowing in Dagenham East. Nice one! My withdrawals are calmed.
  9. It's been the Dagenham 'No Snow Show' for the 2nd day, showers in off the sea are fizzling out as they attempt to be blown across!
  10. Would I be way off the mark in thinking that this country's government are so stupid, that they never invisaged anything like this in terms of cold weather occuring what with these money grabbing scientists banging on about 'Global Warming' wanting to be funded for there research, and in that, they (The Gov) are clouded in there judgement budget wise for dealing with countrywide disturbance/emergencies etc? I think they must be wondering what all the Global Warming fuss is all about, this is sure enough evidance to prove otherwise!
  11. Light Snow in Dagenham East, snow blowing from the west in the wind.
  12. Some people will wonder where the forecast snow for Sunday will generate from? The Low out in Europe just north of Germany is predicted to show signs of developing widely, and this is expected to effect us widely.
  13. Light snow in Dagenham East. Should become a moderate shower soon I'd suspect from the radar. Unexpected this morning, seeing as the forecast last night was for the showers to come in, in the evening!
  14. About an inch fell for a few hours last night, heavy snow for that period. Eversince the early hours, light snow has steadily fallen, and continuing now.
  15. They say be careful what you wish for, and by the looks of the Met Office weather warning updates, our wishes as of from the last years since 1991, it will appear that some of us in the South, West and East will get some quite significant whitestuff! Let's hope it's not to ridiculous amount eh? I'll be happy with a few inches!
  16. I really think looking at your local forecast on BBC website or TV will only breed negativity. These forecasts will be sidedly fence sitting, and will show rain, sleet etc mixed with snow, for the simple reason, they're not entirely sure what the outcome will be until the day before for complexity and accuracy. I think come Tuesday when the cold front arrives from the north across the country with a new burst of slightly colder air and snow showers become a little more widespread and frequent, and as reports come in from the public (As they do rely on us as well), then you will start to see forecasts becoming more clearer in terms of snow being frequent and extensive in the coming days. I am too, a little skeptical, in that I think sunny spells with hit and miss snow showers will be the dish of the day right up until the weekend, and some will be more than dissapointed as they may also get soft hail, sleet as well as snow. Some may get just small piddly flakes of snow, where as some will get 50p flakes and so on. My view is that based on views of other established and worthy to note moderaters on here, I feel NE Scotland, and NE England, along with East Anglia and Kent, these areas will fair best with these inevitable 'Hit and miss' Snow showers. My skepikal view leads me to these predictions, but as I say, things will develop and snow can develop widely without notice, so try to ignore your local 5 day forecasts, local TV forecasts (Until a day before any event). Otherwise you will be feeling negative and anxious about your weather. I am doubtful Friday's possible mammouth snow event will be as widespread as originally predicted on a recent link. This was outlined in that forecast, that it was a possibility, and it may well sink further south and east that originally projected, and that seems to be the case, although I do feel for a time, the SE will bare a brunt from it at some stage, and that is one that is not nailed as in definate that it will not be as widespread. There is still time for this to evolve, and we shall have to wait and see on that one. It's 70-30 in favour of a 'NO' at this stage though.
  17. Looking good then! HAPPY NEW YEAR SNOW FANS!!!!! UP THE ARSENAL FOR TONIGHT! RED ARMY!!!
  18. There will be a drastic downgrade I'm sure. I am flabagasted at the models, but surely these will not come to fruition. Being realistic.
  19. Rain, heavy in Dagenham East moderate breeze from the East, driving the rain a wee bit. Cold, not sure of temps, hoping for a glimmer of a chance of some sleet and wet snow this evening. Won't rule it out. Met Office are updating there warnings, more widespread than originally thought, so as I say, you never know.
  20. Just watched sky news weather long range North East winds into south east and east , but it looked dry on thursday and into friday. By late friday a northerly and dry and also dry on saturday but temps of -1 - 1c across the uk My question is , what models do sky news use? It's called ' We don't know what Thurs & Fri will bring ' So we'll sit on the fence and wait and see.
  21. 5c this morning, but come this evening and overnight, your temps will drop back a wee bit and it could produce in the heavier rain, wet snow for a time. Straw clutching I know. I bet you'll be lamp post watching tonight!
  22. I don't mean to be downbeat, but I think the SE will just be drenched in Rain, Rain, Rain this evening and overnight, it's predicted, and that's what it will be. I am though expecting a suprise with maybe some heavy wet snow to the far W-NW of London as a;ready outlined and mentioned. Over the coming days, I think it will be a case of Sleet & Rain, with PPN being restricted to costal regions of the SE, EA . Despite a cold E-NE wind, I don't think it will be enough until at least Friday when the SE will see something from this developing cold spell, and that will probably be hit and miss Sleet & Snow showers giving dusting coverings, but then melting back. I think next week will be interesting, as the south is expected to become less cold at times, and that will most likely herald the famous Cold/Mild battlezone, and cause frontal snow etc, etc. Not great for us I'm afraid.
  23. I think there will be some suprises in this system, in that I mean there will probably be some heavy wet snow maybe in the SE. Wishfull thinking maybe before Thursday, but you never know do you. I wouldn't be suprised to see or hear of thunder snow in this system also with so much moisture involved mixing with this cold air. Lovely to hear forecasts with Rob McKelwee on the BBC, he makes us cold lovers so optimistic and more often that not, he knows his stuff and doesn't really sit on the fence as much as other forecasters. Looking forward to what unfolds in the coming days, even weeks judging by things at the minute.
  24. There is going to be a lot of snow across the Midlands from this, record amounts I think, what with all the moisture and the cold air mixing in, a truly breathtaking snow event is upon them. For us in the SE, we have got a lot to look forward to in this excellent up and coming cold/very cold spell from Thursday evening onwards.
