Temperature starting to fall rapidly after a nice, at times bright day. 1.3C atm

very very strong winds here since about 4am. Didn't even know this was forecast , so was a bit surprised. Wind currently buffeting the side of the house , fearing for the aerial and the roof tiles

Now that the comet is more than five degrees from the sun, it is possible (albeit still not easy) for amateur astronomers to photograph it just before sunrise. There was only a 30 minute window between the rise of the comet and that of the sun
Here's hoping it stays intact and puts on a good show in the pre dawn skies

Anyone see the news on this comet?
seems to have survived its plunge towards the sun , and is being described as the brightest sungrazing comet ever seen by the SOHO spacecraft. Also a chance it may become visible in the sky next to the sun.

Is the A1 ok, as my folks are on route, and they always use the A1?
No problems reported at the moment

I see a large tree blown onto a house in Gifford - causing structural damage. No injuries.
Will be glad when this is passing over.
Yeah saw that aswell , might give my dad a call as he lives there , just hope the ash tree in his garden hasnt gone over! :o

All double deckers buses banned here. Probs call them all off soon. Wind beginning to pick up and just finished putting the garden stuff away

just been sent home early from my voluntary job. Variable message signs here all saying 'avoid travel'
One hell of a squall rattled through here at 11am , never seen wind like it. Rain was horizontal , car alarms going off , had to hold the window shut as i thought it was going to come loose! :o
