Has it disintegrated!
"Hi All,
Comet ISON has been closely monitored at the IRAM millimeter telescope in
Spain by Israel Hermelo (IRAM Granada) and myself (Caltech/NRAO) for the
last 6 days. We observe consistent, rapid fading of the molecular emission
lines between Nov. 21 and Nov. 25 by at least a factor of 20 (likely
more). This may indicate that the nucleus is now at best marginally active
or that... it no longer exists.
Regards,
Michal"

Many experienced observers seem to be in agreement that it may have. Others though are skeptical. This will the biggest anticlimax of recent times if it's just fizzled out before perihelion

ISON's looking like a real beaut now, some of the pics on @ISONupdates on twitter are awesome! https://twitter.com/ISONUpdates
Estimates going for Mag 5 now, so should be naked eye (faint though), albeit with some averted vision. Should be an easy spot in bino's

Comet is definitely in "outburst"! It should be naked eye visible NOW!
The star below has V-mag = 6.3 and the comet's V-mag = 5.1!
Taken from http://www.brucegary.net/ISON/ might be worth checking here from time to time for latest updates..
"This is the early phase of the outburst as the dust is still close to the nucleus and we should still expect a large increase of the magnitude and the coma diameter if more dust is released in the coming days.
The comet will become rapidly visible naked eye if the outburst last a few more days !"
That's from the Comets ML yahoo group. Looks like we're in for a good display if it keeps it up

Up at 5am this morning for a wee look and found Lovejoy easily in 10x42mm binoculars above the sickle of Leo. Didn't try for ISON as it was a bit low in the sky and i'm not too familiar with the constellation Virgo so probably wouldn't be able to pick it out with twilight approaching.
Further obs this morning from the pro's are going for Mag 6 to 6.5 brightness for ISON. 5.5 or thereabouts for Lovejoy
Also interesting to note that Comet C/2013 V3 (Nevski) has brightened to Mag 8.9! Might break the Mag 8 barrier and become the 5th comet to grace our morning skies!

So long as it's not another Kahoutek!
!!
Great news here guys, ISON is an outburst ! This could yet live up to all the hype, I can't wait.
Yup some french fella's reporting the brightness has increased by 1 Mag. If it clears here tonight i might have a go with the binoculars, along with Comet Lovejoy

Hope we get something akin to Ikeya-Seki in the 60's but i doubt it. Should still be a grand sight though, another McNaught?

Just had a huge rumble of thunder here out of nowhere and teamed it down with hail. Road is covered

Southern England now in full scale shutdown mode for tomorrow AM. I look forward to the rolling coverage on sky news and the constant updates from some guy standing on a bridge over the M25

one dodgy run and the storm thread dramatics have begun

Someone in the storm thread was recommending people bleach their wheelie bins out and fill them with water...
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Only the southerners could come out with such things!
-
Supposedely had thunder overhead in the late afternoon here, but where was I? In Edinburgh! Every single time!
-
Raintoday 1815 mmm .someone with the worlds largest garden sprinkler
! It's a strange one
-
Fairly sure this was asked in the convective thread the other night but cant seem to find it.
Anybody have any idea what could be causing the weird anaprop that covers all of SW Scotland at random intervels?
Seen it for quite a few days now
-
Can hear what sounds like distant thunder here, cells to the E/SE are looking good
Edit: Yup definatly distant thunder, quite loud too!
-
That shower to my S/SE (Catch's direction) has turned electrical according to the netweather radar, hope it moves ever so slightly to the west otherwise i'll be sideswiped
Edit: Also got my eye on that Carlise cell
-
Moving off north now, but can't complain. Just been treated to 30 mins of loud thunder (some shotgun), CG lightning, fork lightning and torrential rain. Slap bang overhead . Still flashes in the distance now, fingers crossed for more
-
Storm right overhead here, flashes every so often and some very loud thunder
Edit: WOW, lights going out soon i feel

Hi WM, my name's changed and i'm about 40 miles south of my actual location. You've got me on top of the Lammermuir Hills

21.9C on my sensor reletively close to the house, other thermometer at the back of the garden sitting at 24.8C, seem to believe that a bit more lol

Inverness now at 27C, same temperature as London Heathrow! :O
-
Very warm up in the highlands at the moment, Inverness reporting 26C and Aviemore also at 26C. 23C at Kinloss

Shaping up to be a rather pleasant afternoon here, potentially hot. Currently 20C with clear blue skies. We had the dreaded north sea cloud earlier but it vanished around 10am
-
Basehunters 1 on TVNweather.com have got a good view of this, what a monster!
-
Heavy rain for the past 10 mins, no sign of any thunder or lightning yet

As SOHO is a joint NASA/ESA mission, it has 2 site's with exactly the same data (american and european)
http://soho.esac.esa.int/ - Link to euro one, might get lucky . Seems to work for me atm
Edit: seems to be going really slow, suppose this is the 'comet of the century'
