  1. Hmm that area of rain in the Irish Sea is really starting to intensify. Not electrified yet, apart from a few trailing showers off the Lancashire coast.

Yeah, some nice returns appearing on the radar now, also a rash of showers breaking out over the southern uplands

Edit: Cells now firing near Edinburgh on the V6 1910 radar, finally some initiation happening :)

  2. Cell has fired over the borders heading N, Catch i'd keep your eyes peeled! Actually as I type two cells! Lightning detected! Streams of warm air arriving here now, temp is rocketing  :shok:

Edit 1148: Judging by the 1140 radar, they are going to give Dunbar a direct hit, slight NNE tilt. I should get a view from the W, side on!

  3. Have you got cloud up there? I can't be that far from you in a straight line (I'm between Duns and Greenlaw, near Charterhall) and it's mostly sunny and feeling spanking hot when we were out walking the dog.

    Edit: 22 miles :D

2nd Edit: Kinloss reporting 26ºC, before 10am. Waw!

Aye got about 4/8 of mid layer stuff, mostly Ac. The back up thermometer is reading 21.9C so seems a bit accurate than the other one, taking into account what other nearby stations are saying. Does look nice down your way :D

  4. 19.4C and rising on the thermometer at the moment. Edinburgh Airport is at 15C as of 0820 but there seems to be a slight onshore breeze their at the moment, Charterhall at 18C. Forecasted to reach 25C this afternoon here but I wouldnt be surprised to see slightly higher if the onshore breeze doesn't affect us and the cloud thins and breaks

  5. Level 2 issued by Estofex over Northern England and Southern Scotland for tomorrow :O Never seen a Level 2 threat over Scotland before - this is uncharted territory here.

Their forecast highlights the potential for severe thunderstorms (even bow echoes & supercells) but also the high degree of uncertainty in the situation. So exciting to see a Level 2 IMBY though - can hardly believe it tbh.

The wording of the forecast is very strong at some points, for example:

"Potentially very severe situation with number of question marks will develop over parts of UK. "

Yeah i've never seen Scotland with a level two in all the years i've been observing the weather, I just about choked on my Coffee . Will be a very interesting late afternoon/evening for us lot tomorrow  :bomb:

  6. Fascinating experience this morning, slightly surreal aswell. Watched it through a DIY pinhole projector and managed to steal a glimpse when some Sc rolled through. Light certainly faded a great deal and the sky went from clear blue to a slightly tinted grey/brown colour. Looking forward to the lunar eclipse in Sept and the next solar! :)

  7. Don't you wish it was two months ago, it would be going dark now!

Cloud has been melting away in some areas but Sod's law says that as soon as darkness starts setting in, the readings will drop off!

yeah, if only this had happened during the winter :( and aye typical sods law it'll go back to G3-G4 as soon as darkness strikes the UK
