Hi Here in Churchdown near Gloucester we have had six falls of snow 1/2 Feb - half inc 2/3 Feb - two inches 4/5 Feb - two inches 5/6 Feb - three inches 8 Feb - didn't settle 9/10 Feb - probably two inches This was an amazing amount of snow BUT most of it melted during the day as it hasn't been at all cold with night time temperatures of around zero and daytime temps up to plus 4c. I must admit to be a little disappointed by the amounts when people nearby by had much more, and it was such a pity it kept melting. Still hoping for a blizzard!!! Richard

An inch of new snow now lying at Churchdown, Gloucester - haven't seen snow this heavy for ..err.......27 hours ! This is snowfall number 6 but the have all largely melted in between. Now all I want is the blizzard Richard

For me here in Gloucester I would describe this winter as a typical 70s winter. People talk of 80's winters but that was something new to me when we had the first one. I was used to moderately cold winters with frequent incidents of wet snow giving about 3 inches and melting quite quickly, just like we have at the moment. Very low temperatures and frozen snow was something that didn't come to these parts until 1979 as far as I can recall (excluding of course the early 60s but I'm not old enough to remember that) Richard

Even with a temperature of +1.8?

Hi I find it hard to believe that I am really going to see snow here in Gloucester tonight as the temperature is currently +1.8C. Is this likely to drop or have I missed out on heavy snow yet again? Richard

Hi Two light dustings lastnight which settled. Much then melted by lunchtime but it has snowed ever since to give a covering of 30mm. just stopping now. Current temp = -1.4

Cloudy and damp +4c here in Gloucester - yuk!

Good covering of snow here in Gloucester - first lying snow of the"Winter" so far and probably the best for years as it was very big flakes. Probably only about 4cm in depth though, on the top of the car. Richard

It all depends on what you call "quality snow". I call quality snow as snow that is more than 2 inches deep. In that case I haven't had any here in Gloucester since 1982. Richard
