Started here about three hours ago, getting heavier all the time and worse to come.
-
That second area made a direct hit here, for all of 10 minutes. Now we're back to the blue skies and sunshine. No thunder or lightning.
-
Tail end fizzled out and we got not so much as a drop. Maybe the area that's coming up from Honiton now may prove to be different.
-
Profile updated.
Still no rain and no sign of lightning or sound of thunder. Just very grey all round.
-
I can see the blackness that is to the NW of Yeovil from my landing window. Here, the sun is shining atm, but suspect that's about to change as it would appear that the tail of the line of rain is going to pass over us shortly.
-
Where about's are you?
Near Sherborne.
Sun's shining again now, but there's still grey cloud around to the west.
-
Gone very dark here in the last 15 minutes, but no rain and no thundery signs either.
-
I can see your darkness, tornadomanuk! It's extending towards Yeovil, but seems to be moving more north than east.
-
Seems to be creeping towards Crewkerne, but no sign of lightning...yet. I'll keep watch!
-
Nearer than you are fromey, but not seeing anything except a slightly darkening sky atm.
-
Woken just ove half an hour ago by a vicious crack of thunder! Some flashes and more long rumbles until a few minutes ago. I can still hear the thunder in the distance, probably over the Somerton/Street area and heading pretty much north.
-
Bone dry here atm, between Sherborne and Yeovil, and has been all day. No doubt I shall regret saying that later.....
-
Thought that we were going to get a direct hit at least from rain, if not thunder, from the line that Andy Bown and fromey mention....nothing, only enough rain to dampen the ground. Doesn't seem to be anything coming up behind it either. Still, we need a bit of a break from heavy rain here in Dorset!
-
Just watching the live feed of the Torch going along the A35 and into Bridport...absolutely piddling down!
-
I believe serious flooding at Yetminster closed the railway line.
Yes, it did, but it's open again now. Similar happened at Axminster on the Exeter/Salisbury line. That is also open again, but with slow running. On the other hand, the A35 is still closed at Winterbourne Abbas and, as of now, no idea when it will reopen.
Mostly dry here so far, just one heavy but short lived thundery shower shortly before midday. Pleasantly warm in the sunshine.

It's just occured to me that the Olympic Torch relay is due in Dorset later this week. They are going to need to do some serious cleaning up before that, especially along the A35 and the coast road from Bridport to Weymouth.
I see that 'our' railway line (Yeovil Pen Mill to Weymouth) is open again now, not so on the SW Trains from Yeovil Junction to Exeter....landslip at Axminster.
-
Wow! That really is serious flooding. Know several of those sites, frequently go past that garage at BB, also Maiden Newton.
Seems that the A37 is still flooded at Stratton and a couple of other places too. Hope that it's all over now.

Just been down to the Yeo to the SW of Sherborne. HIghest that I've seen it there since October 2000. The bottom of the tyre in the photo was well over a metre above the water level earlier in the week. My spies tell me that it was completely below the surface yesterday. The second photo is a very small tributary which normally only has enough water to cover the bed, now it is only just going under the bridge, so must be about 2 metres deep. Final pic is the footpath! First time this has flooded this badly since 2000.
-
At least it's not raining this morning! Total from 09.00GMT yesterday.....40mm, makes total over last 48 hours....81mm. Roads passable, but very messy.
-
Yep! I'm right in the middle of it! Seriously fed up now as it will probably mean that the roads out of the village will be flooded again tomorrow having cleared up a bit this afternoon.
-
Final 24 hour total from the start of this episode is 53mm. Highest I've recorded since October 1999. Everywhere drying out remarkably quickly.
-
Just checked my gauge again and total is now 51mm from approx 14.00 GMT yesterday when it first started.
Whereabouts are you micro? Pm me if you don't want to reveal here.
-
it's been lighter rain here for the last hour, but pepping up again now as the whole body trundles north.
-
Our local river is up to flood warning now. There's a certain brightness in the sky, but it did that before the last seriously heavy downpour!

53mm from 08.00 yesterday to same time today. Fortunately, I emptied the gauge last night, had I not have done, it would have overflowed! Pretty much stopped now, but still breezy.
