  1. Just thought I would let you know that I recieved my new La Crosse WS2500 weather station this morning. Any advice on same and set-up would be appreciated - looks complex! Expect lots of trivial waether data in the daily reports soon.
  2. Absolutely lashing down with rain here and just had lightning/thunder right overhead (counted 1 second between). 'Nice' surprise but it frightened the life out of me as I was not expecting it!
  3. I spent a WEEK in Brest a couple of years ago and it certainly is NOT funny! Incidentaly, the last dry day here (at my location) was June 17th! I'd nearly now be disappointed if I didn't get rain every day for the rest of the summer!!!
  4. I have just ordered/bought a LaCrosse WS2500 (paid for and in the post so too late to change). To Matban: did you get yours up and running o.k.? How's it working out for you? To everybody else: any experiences re: setting up and operationg would be appreiacted!
  5. Sitting in the back garden with my laptop - it's so still and I can hear really distant rumbles of thunder.
  6. They (the organisers) were a little crazy (some may say negligent!) letting them go out as there were gale warnings in force all day for the Irish Sea! Even some of the high speed ferries were cancelled!!!
  7. Maybe the cover up is that Gardai and Army were letting off bangers for the craic!
  8. Wouldn't appear to be thunder - if you look at the attcahed news report this is sort of ruled out.
  9. Cheers for rectifying my link! With me - the words competent and computers rarely occur in the same sentence!!! :o
  10. Link below to news story today of 'explosion' last night in north Co. Dublin. www.rte.ie/news/2007/0702/rush.html Sorry - can't get link to work - you may have to copy and paste  'Explosion' put down to 'freak waether' conditions (not connected - directly anyway - to any thunderstorm activity). Any ideas or thoughts what that might be about?
  11. Just gone tropical here!!! The sun has come out in the last hour after a damp and cloudy morning - all of a sudden temperture has just now jumped to 22.9C and climbing!
  12. Dublin: Not Applicable (it would seem anymore!)
  13. Thunder rumbling away around here since about midday. Nothing directly overhead yet but torrential showers. Peter Gabriel and Crowded House are plying in the open across the road from me this evening - good luck - mud bath I'd say
  14. Clear blue skies here all round except for one area of towering cumulus to the south of me (must be at least 20 miles away) now forming anvil!
  15. Light drizzle here this morning - first rainfall around here since March 29th. That was officially starting to become a drought!
  16. Heavy haily sleet here at the moment.
  17. Fairly heavy but quick graupel shower here. Current temp. +6.0c with dewpoint of -5.0c - so rare to have such dry air here.
  18. Have really light snow grain/hall showers here at the moment - current temp. + 5.0c. Not suprised as the dew point is -5.0c!
  19. At last! Snowing quite hevily here now. Temp is +1.7c but the snow is starting to stick as it is quite heavy.
  20. Hi January S I feel I have still some (outside) hope of seeing something if the front starts to rotate as the temp. here has remeined around +2.0 for the last couple of hours - probably total wishful thinking - but I'm still up and looking! Although given what you said above, I'm probably pi**ing into the wind!
  21. Crappy rain with the hint of sleet here for the last couple of hours. Temp. +2.3c Weather nealy as crap as Ireland vs. San Marino earlier this evening (we scapped a win 2-1 - San Marino got their first goal in 9 years!) Any sign of that rain band/front swinging? That's my only hope
  22. BAD NEWS - Raining here with just a smidge of sleetiness. GOOD NEWS - Temp was up to +3.6 but has now fallen 0.8 in half an hour to +2.8 and the dew point is still low.
  23. Hi Kippure Only saving grace here is that the dewpoint is low, currently -2 with the temp +3. It's a pity the front wasn't a couple of hours later as we would have had a chance to get the air tmp. down. Rain or snow - it's certainly on the way!! Would expect ppn in the next hour. Will be glued to the lampost this evening! Oh bug**r - temp has risen to +3.3 - we're doomed!
  24. Met Eireann just said that they would be surprised if most places across Ireland , with the exception of the south, didn't get several cms of snow tonight. I am still a little sceptical!
