  1. When this snow on monday night first cropped up I was worried about it dying out, but after seeing lots of runs nearly all of them show the band of snow hardly drying out at all. Infact, it seems the band lingers around the south-east for a while. Don't worry about PPN levels - we're gunna get alot..
  2. I reckon the snow event monday night could be quite juciy on this run...
  3. The ENE Thames streamer is the most annoying thing for someone who lives in North London.
  4. I know you weren't asking me but yes. kent seems to be the best place to be for saturday. Not only has it got moderate precipitation (much lighter further north) but it should stay as snow for most of the duration of the event (it's gunna start or stay as rain further west).
  5. hmm it seems the potential for serious amount of snow starts next week. TBH this weekend just looks like a starter - don't expect anything amazing, maybe just enough to make some snowballs and put them in the freezer for the big snowball fights next week. Monday night into tuesday looks the most likely with this been in quite a few runs now (mainly ECM) with a low sweeping down the country. Also remember we are pretty far east so nothing really looks marginal after this weekend
  6. I live on a hill and every year that it snows, no word of a lie, my neighbour whips the skis out and goes skiing down the road.
  7. hahaha it better not! I want to go skiing on the 23rd and being stuck at the airport doesn't sound nice
  8. The GFS keeps doing a cheeky one by keeping the south east in the cold alot longer than the rest of the country. By a lot longer i mean another day.
  9. The gfs 12z would actually be pretty good for those who live in Kent and East anglia in the short to medium term. The isobars are quite close together coming from the North east with cold uppers so those snow showers could be quite juicy Obviously the ECM and UKMO are better for the rest of the country and for longer term cold but you knowww...
  10. Gunna have to make the most of this snow before it all melts! nearly up to 2c here :S
  11. Just from the looks of things there is about 5 inches, maybe 6 in places very happy
  12. I'm also in barnet and i can confirm 8 cm here, nearing 10 on the grass.
  13. Temp dropped from 2.0 to 1.6 now. Hopefully i can get another 1 degree drop before the snow moves in and i should be sorted. Things further east than here look pretty good. Those in Essex and kent, I wouldn't worry about rain or sleet, thats pretty much out of the question for you guys now.
  14. It's not going to reach 5c to start with so don't worry about that. Also, the front is meant to reach after dusk so temps will drop before the precip arrives. Stop panicing and just enjoy the snow in this region
  15. Slightly better for everyone. Snow line further west and snow lasting a litter longer in most areas.
  16. Can anyone provide a link for the NAE? I can't seem to find it anywhere
  17. Okay, well after looking through all the GEFS Ensembles, the good news is that its pretty much 100% that most of us, if not all of us will see a period of heavy snow. However, only about 7 out of the 20 keep the precipitation as snow throughout while the other vary in what time the snow turns to a sleety mix. The ensembles also suggest the further east you are, the more likey the precip will stay as snow throughout, so places like essex are probably best placed in this region, also most of Kent if the front is as progressive as forcast. I'm hoping that the models are underestimating the coldness of the air, and therefore its denisty. Such cold, dense air will make it difficult for the front to be so progressive, and in an ideal situation the front could stall over us in the SouthEast. Also the front is reaching us at nightime, inreasing the chance the precip will stay as snow throughout. The south east are probably the best positioned for snow in the county, so it won't take much of a shift from the front for the whole region to see a signifcant snow event tomorrow.
