snowing here again ,though this time nothing on the radar nearby! Maybe a shower just developed over me? (probably all the evaporation of my lying snow? )
Dammit! There goes my ice day, +0.1C
-
Looking at the 10cm of snow on my car roof, the bottom 0.5cm is slush - not good!
-
Snow has melted/fallen off the entire passenger side of my car (the side that's been in the sun part of the morning).
Temp is -0.3C - we may just make an ice day! But I'm not holding my hopes up. Last ice day here was 10th Jan 2009

Nice to see the BBC have edited their model to include more snow showers this afternoon now. They still reckon Kent could be badly affected?
-
very light snow falling from a light flurry again.
-
Corr he got a grilling!!!
deffo worth a watch! Oh the satisfaction...
Back to the current weather, sun is out, temp is climbing -0.4C currently. Snow is starting to fall off trees.
-
John Hammond did say ""this map isnt representative of the snow fall" on News 24.
There is a graphics error most likely.
that's why I wondered if there was a dodgy 06z NAE? It didn't even include the snow over Kent this morning either. Problem is, that is across their output for the rest of the day until 5pm!
-
Where's that popped up from?
the occlusion? that's in today's forecast too! It was due to move southwestwards today and get stuck over Kent tomorrow with frequent snow showers on a Kent Streamer effectively.

Massive Failure on the Models
No Snow until the Maybe Marginal Event on Sat/Sun

that's what I said about an hour ago when John Hammond first aired the new graphics. Complete downgrade
-
cloudy but dry here, no sun which is good so no thaw. -2C
-
Yep. Exactly what I was thinking. This low is not moving towards land at all. It's just spinning away happily 100 miles off the Norfolk coast. Dragging around NW winds inland and pushing the showers away from us, not towards us. We need the low to start moving SW.
If we all get some string I'm sure we can tug it southwestwards?
-
100 minutes of constant snow now, it's very light now and the sun is shining but it is still slightly falling.
oh dear, John Hammond can't be heard summat wrong with his microphone!
-
It is actually still snowing lightly, that's 1 hour and 5 mins so far of constant snowfall here, and an additional 3cm making 13cm now.
anyone looked on the Sat. at the nationwide snowcover? http://www.sat24.com...e=&index=1&sat=
Edit: turned moderate now
-
Just had a quick measure, 13cm on the grass (5 inches). The most snow we've had in this part of Kent for as long as I can remember
-
Clearing to the North, can see some Blue(ish) Sky heading down the Medway, soon be at Maidstone!
Looks like a window before the next showers within the hour. (Anyone got a subscription Radar to confirm??)
Yeah turning lighter here now too. Still it was fun while it lasted
He said his clicker thingy wasn't working?
Jan
He did indeed, but it did work eventually. However, that would've been the first airing of the 06z NAE model which looks bone dry!
-
Not entirely sure what's wrong with the BBC graphics? They are bone dry, very odd. Apparently there will be no snow across East Anglia or the SE at all during this afternoon on the new graphics. Even John Hammond has realised there is something wrong - a dodgy 06z NAE perhaps?
-
50 mins of snow, still going lol
-
40 mins of snow and no let up. Am I in a favourable position for those showers over W Essex as well?
-
25 mins of steady moderate snow so far, must have 1 or 2cm by now added to the 10cm already there. No sign of stopping yet either.
-
According to guy on BBC News from Met Office, there is no pattern in these cold winters, it's a 'random thing'.
Oh god, he can't help but boast at how well they predicted this snow and advised the army to be on standby on the A3
snow started here
-
I'm estimating about 10:10 for the arrival of that shower here. It does look like it's extending further westwards, whilst the heavier core will move into Sittingbourne and Faversham area.
-
can see the cloud in the distance, beautifully pure white and proper convective looking
-
WOW a total wall of snow has continued to develop coming off the southend coast-
looks like its heading
SHEPPEY,SITINGBOURNE WAY AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!
5CM PER HOUR BANDING-
1CM FALL this morning in bexleyheath

waiting patiently here in mid central Kent

Bit off topic again but in norfolk this summer we were infested by millions of ladybirds, i wonder if they knew what was coming and multiplied so that they would survive the winter?
Sorry.....bit random!
ah yes the Harlequins, they were a right pest for about 3 days!

yeah was like that in the supermarket I work in yesterday, the car park was like an ice rink, cars sliding everywhere, people slipping about because Tunbridge Wells Borough Council couldn't be arsed to grit the car park. We have no salt, bread or eggs in stock because the distribution centres have none in stock either! So many empty shelves, some woman bought 12 loaves yesterday - we should've really put a limit on! Do you really need 12 loaves?!
