  1. An evening of Radar watching first signs of things beginning to become unstable on the radar. I haven't heard the Sheffield Shield go up yet. It was caught out by a stealth storm earlier which sneaked into the area by not producing any lightening then decided to let rip for a short while. Annoyed the shield powdered up and kicked it eastward where it produced plenty of lightening and rain. Anyway I suspect the shield will have another firmware update to prevent sneaky attacks like that and will be ready to shred any storms that dare to approach or happily deflect the more nervous storms around Sheffield so they can pulverize places like Barnsley or Leeds.

I hope the shield malfunctions. It's been years since Sheffield had a good storm. Fingers crossed for a miracle! Radar and strike watching driving me crazy.
  2. Numpties.

Strangely round here cars seem to be invisible to many and people walk down the roads regardless refusing to step off despite the risk of being hit by a sliding vehicle. It gets silly when the road is just as icy as the pavement. I'd prefer to fall on my backside rather than having a car sat on my legs.

My thoughts exactly pit.. I do love weather in all forms, yet it can bring out the selfishness and stupidity of most people. Im sat at home sulking now, I've sprained my shoulder trying to get my toddler over said mini snow mountains.
  3. Well since the majority of pedrestains aren't using the pavements even if they're clear why not?? Seriously though did they have anywhere else to put the Snow like a verge?

Round here piles of Snow blocking the pavement isn't the problem. Rather it's people who haven't bothered clearing leaving sheet ice across the pavement. Not great even if you've got decent walking gear but deadly if you're wearing fashion boots.

Anyway after I visited my Mother I thought I'd try and have a quick look on top via Holmesfield. The first 300 yards were clear then drifting snow from the fields. Not worth the risk so I took the first oppertunity to turn round. A delivery van passed me from the opposite direction then went sidways. I suspect higher up the road is probably blocked or keeps getting blocked by drifts. I'll have a go tomorrow via another route with the correct kit in the car.

well due to the roads being in use by cars yes i had to take my children on the actual pavement.. They have gardens and a verge but the trend here is to make two four foot walls of snow between ones drive and the road grr
