Can see distant flashes of lightning..only a few rumbles..need to get about 15 miles closer. *fingers crossed*
-
Scrap that!! Thunder.. yay
-
Just boring rain here..and it looked so promising for a short time..oh well beer time
-
Brief heavy downpour..nothing too exciting. Nice looking cell though.Gone round me once again. Looks like it's chucking it down to the north of me.
-
Scud! I like it thanks Pit
-
Just sat and watched a cell blow over. Lots of long rumbles and the odd flash. The strange thing was watching whisps of dark grey clouds just seem to get sucked into the mass.. never seen anything quite like it! Is there a name for that?
-
It's thunder! Just stood on the back listening..defiantly thunder.. *crosses fingers*
-
Or some evil person running up and down a drive with a wheelie bin..just to taunt me so frustratingNah thats the Storm bumping into the shield and bouncing off and falling to bits.
-
So much promise and it's a mediocre shower, although I am sure I heard a distant rumble of thunder.
-
Cloud dtarting to bubble up here now
-
I hope the shield malfunctions. It's been years since Sheffield had a good storm. Fingers crossed for a miracle! Radar and strike watching driving me crazy. An evening of Radar watching first signs of things beginning to become unstable on the radar. I haven't heard the Sheffield Shield go up yet. It was caught out by a stealth storm earlier which sneaked into the area by not producing any lightening then decided to let rip for a short while. Annoyed the shield powdered up and kicked it eastward where it produced plenty of lightening and rain. Anyway I suspect the shield will have another firmware update to prevent sneaky attacks like that and will be ready to shred any storms that dare to approach or happily deflect the more nervous storms around Sheffield so they can pulverize places like Barnsley or Leeds.

Looking forward to the possibility of a cracking few days next week

Few long but distant rumbles here
-
Recorded a gust of 37mph earlier..suspect it was probably higher. There's a row of large trees forming a mini wind beak ..wish they would blow over!

Still a fair amount left up here. Thank god school is over for Easter tomorrow because the pavement snow mountains created by the drive clearing numptys will take forever to melt. Worst thing is the roads are gritted and traffic is flowing as normal yet walking on the pavement is like a Swiss mountain hike..grumble grumble..

Just catching a shower here, Temp slowly raising but still below freezing.
-
Got quite heavy up here then back to lots of small flakes. -1.7° reading on weather station currently. Winds gusting now and again causing mini blizzard.
-
My thoughts exactly pit.. I do love weather in all forms, yet it can bring out the selfishness and stupidity of most people. Im sat at home sulking now, I've sprained my shoulder trying to get my toddler over said mini snow mountains.Numpties.
Strangely round here cars seem to be invisible to many and people walk down the roads regardless refusing to step off despite the risk of being hit by a sliding vehicle. It gets silly when the road is just as icy as the pavement. I'd prefer to fall on my backside rather than having a car sat on my legs.
-
well due to the roads being in use by cars yes i had to take my children on the actual pavement.. They have gardens and a verge but the trend here is to make two four foot walls of snow between ones drive and the road grrWell since the majority of pedrestains aren't using the pavements even if they're clear why not?? Seriously though did they have anywhere else to put the Snow like a verge?
Round here piles of Snow blocking the pavement isn't the problem. Rather it's people who haven't bothered clearing leaving sheet ice across the pavement. Not great even if you've got decent walking gear but deadly if you're wearing fashion boots.
Anyway after I visited my Mother I thought I'd try and have a quick look on top via Holmesfield. The first 300 yards were clear then drifting snow from the fields. Not worth the risk so I took the first oppertunity to turn round. A delivery van passed me from the opposite direction then went sidways. I suspect higher up the road is probably blocked or keeps getting blocked by drifts. I'll have a go tomorrow via another route with the correct kit in the car.

1.7° here currently.. Sun breaking through periodically. School run sucked big time..it was below freezing overnight so over a foot of frozen laying snow..and huge piles of cleared snow on the pavements..why people are so inconsiderate is beyond me.. As long as the drive is clear! Sod the poor pedestrians ..grumble
-
Temp risen up to 2° according to my weather station.. Wind chill is certainly lower brr .. Can't get an accurate wind speed due to the wall of trees blocking the wind :-(
-
Temp of 0.09° up here.. Just had a look on meto app and they have sheffield down for heavy snow between midnight and six a.m. There's a definite melt but the wind is catching the drips and turning them into ice.
-
Just had to venture outside to dig the cat a path to get to her spot.. 24cm on the level bits.. Drifts of varying depth..biggest in garden was 2.5 foot deep roughly..and its still snowing!
-
It's difficult to say with the sideways wind blowing it everywhere. Looking at the tops of the garden furniture possibly between 15/20cm ..I'll measure it later. The drifting is much deeper..
