  1. Er High Wycombe was the countries sweet spot for the snow event a couple of weeks ago??

Yay! Snowing in High Wycombe! Quite heavy at the moment - approx 1cm on cars and grass and looks like it will continue for a long time according to the radar. Very happy as we have had to look on enviously since our last settled snow in January. Patience has finally paid off!!

  2. Last March it was regularly over 20 degrees. Never mind 'without a coat' I was in t shirt and shorts! Bizarre when there wasn't a leaf on the trees!

The GFS runs today have highlighted why I really like early March. You can technically have such mild temps to be comfortable going outside without a coat and yet still see ice days with heavy snow.

Tell you what though I would love to see a bitter airmass like below to hit the UK from the E instead of the N.

  3. Good lad, nice one, keep it up. it's a positive to be interested and enthused so ignore the moaners.

I have been a snow fan since I was about 3 but it is only this last week I have really got into models, maps and all that, I am still learning the trade, still a weather apprentice so am bound to get things wrong at first, I bet TEITS, Steve Murr, John Pike, GP got things wrong in their first week too but didn't have a 10,000 audience to nitpick their mistakes, just their wives.

My somewhat wrong efforts are pure guesswork/opinion and plenty of enthusiasm, if I get things wrong so be it, better to get on a horse and fall off it a few times than be too scared to get on the horse in the first place

  4. Oh give over. You're like these footballers nagging the referee to send someone off. He's doing nowt wrong. Obviously interested in weather. Maybe gets a bit giddy and overexcited (me too!). Misleading at times but does it really matter?

    CWT2012 needs some moderating methinks.

Correct. Been a lot of cynicism and sarcasm on here the last day or two. The snowfall, while not exactly 1947!!, has been more than anyone expected.

Right CWT2012 is well over the top I think we all agree on that, BUT last night he was ridiculed and in many places he wasn't far off to be honest, I am not for one minute saying his latest prediction is anywhere near right but as I have just said in my previous post there is a lot of snow events popping up which if you went by the tv forecasts and some of the models we shouldn't be seeing.

  5. I think it reflects lowish modern levels of expectation. I'm 40 yrs old and grew up in the South Pennines. This winter would have been crap compared to any of the decent 70s/80s stuff. One week of snow, two weeks of frost, big deal.

However after having been psychologically scarred by the modern British winter post 1980s, and now living down south, one week of getting the sledge out seems pretty good (as a kid it was for months on end - Eeeh when I was a lad etc etc). How times change :-(

Yep 5.9 average. cant believe the scores some people are giving. :) Clearly must be their first ever cold snap :))))
