  1. What are the prospects for where I am, (North-East Wales) I am aware that areas like Powys and south will get some form of precipitation, but will the snow extend this far north?
  2. We had a period of heavy snow too, left about a 1cm or two around, mainly slush on the main roads, nothing that spectacular here. It probably added 2-3cm to the already lying snow.
  3. Exactly the same here, except it's a little colder now and down to 0.4C I'm amazed that tomorrow we will have had a full week of snow cover, that is over an inch I reckon that the +400m high ground around us will have well over a foot of snow now, as absolutely no air thawing has happened as the temperature has remained below zero for over a week.
  4. Just got woke up, there's an extra 3-4 cm of snow added to the total depth. Noticed that there is no metoffice weather warning, yet they seemed to have recently added one for West Midlands?
  5. Was that the period when areas in Cheshire and North Wales got over a foot of snow? I think that was sometime in March 2006, I remember our work place closed for the day. I honestly thought that was frontal snow, as I recall it thawed dramatically later on in the day as the mild air moved in behind it.
  6. Kinda annoying, that area just missed us about 5 miles to the west, we just got a few flurries in the air. Hopefully we will get alot more showers during the early hours and into tomorrow morning. I want to wake up to another inch on top of what we've already got
  7. I think we'll get around an inch or more from tonight's showers, that should bring the depth back up to around 5 inches. I'm guessing there will be over a foot over the hills behind me, possibly more above 500m.
  8. Could well do, hopefully the cheshire gap effect kicks in later on. Those showers have currently dumped 1-2cms of snow on top of the previous covering we had from Wednesday and Thursday.
  9. I think anywhere in West and North Wales could see a few showers tonight. We've been having snow showers since 4pm, we already have a nice new covering on top of the previous snow cover. It's like living in ski resort up here, it's continuely building its depth everyday.
  10. It's not quiet here, it's been snowing for the past hour. We have another 2-3cms of snow on top of the lying snow, I'm totally taking a trip up to the hills on Monday. I expect to see at least 6-7ft drifts
  11. Light snow showers have now started here, will there be any significant additional accumilations from these showers overnight?
  12. Any idea how much snow is due to fall during sunday? And roughly what time scale are we talking about here?
  13. Just thought I'd add that there is now a Met Office weather warning out for areas of the West Midlands. The threat seems to be moving further west and north on every radar update!
  14. I know what you mean, similar story here! We've had a ridiculous amount of snow around here too, especially over the hills and high routes (Horseshoe Pass, etc)
  15. I wonder will this front make it as far north as West Midlands, North and East Wales?
  16. Happy days here in North Wales, we've had nearly 10 hours of light snow, absolutely no thaw! Took a trek up to the hills around me, there were drifts of snow with depths of well around 4-5ft. I will be going back up there tomorrow, I will take some photos Hoping for a little from this front, doubt it will reach this far north however, good luck tonight people!
  17. Is it just me, or does the area of snow moving north over wales seems to be getting more intense?
  18. The centre of the low pressure is currently located west of france, the precipitation is now starting to swing around it and track N/W. The west will do VERY well tonight Stop worrying, look at the radar carefully!
  19. Those bands are rotating around an area of low pressure. You can already see the precipitation edging slightly west, so don't worry, you will definitely see some snow!
  20. Am I correct in assuming that the majority of the precipitation has yet to show up on the radar? I see the centre of the low on the satellite, and there seems to be alot of potential for some prolonged snow tonight
  21. Currently -4.1C here, clear skies. All the current snow cover is totally frozen now, we still have 2-3 inches lying on the ground  It will certainly be snow here, problem is, will it actually reach North East Wales? The main area that is just leaving France, it seems to be a little too far east?
  22. Just got back from work. I'm surprised that the snow moved back northwards at around noon, towards North/Mid Wales and dropped another 2 inches here!
  23. For some reason, the area of snow showers around us have combined and intensified over North Wales and adding to the depth of the overnight snow. Any reason for this?
  24. Surprisingly, I woke up to around 2 inches of snow. Temperature -1.2C This is a great start, bring on tonight!
  25. I decided to take a New Year's stroll up and around the hills surrounding Llangollen. The town itself only had a regular frost with temperatures around -4C, however when I started to move up to high ground, I was surprised to find the visibility dropping, freezing fog setting in, as well as rather gusty winds behind it! Spectacular scenes from around the hills, somewhat of an arctic feel!, with really thick hoar frost developing, chiefly above 300m. From a distance, one might be mistaken for thinking this is actually snow, with some of the frost being over an inch thick, as well as the frost falling off the branches and depositing on the roads, giving a covering of over a centremetre of ice in places. The temperature was around -5.9C when I was out trekking, with a significant windchill factor of -14C! For these reasons, I only made it up to around 400m, I had to turn around, however I would have liked to have seen what it was like further up towards the Berwyn Mountains. Enjoy!
