  1. 'The low pressure looks set to take the english channel route and if it does that, then we are set to miss most of the winds but potentially gusting to around 60mph in the channel islands. So if the low is tracking more of a southerly route, then the cold air from the north is going to engage with the deepening are of low pressure. So we are then going to start off with rain over the southern area but this will turn to snow. The snow will start to develop into Wales then part of the midlands then into southern England. The rain could turn to snow in the south east in the rush hour. Then as we head into the afternoon the rain/sleet and snow will move away.' I think its more of a 'nowcast' scenario, so will be window watching tomorrow, snow is very difficult to pin point exactly where its going to fall in this situation so just keep some fingers crossed to see a flake in this set up
  2. as gottalovethisweather has just said in the atlantic storm thread, an update from the bbc... http://www.bbc.co.uk...atures/16201006
  3. something like this?.. Only a bit of banter, i couldn't criticise the met office, there responsible to give out weather warnings for the UK's safety, and I know we all would rather a warning and it does not happen, appose to no warning and BAM. Tomorrows potential has been very excitable to the point of watching the models. Loads to look out for as there is a possibility of an easterly next Friday.
  4. just seen the latest bbc forecast and it does show rain turning increasingly to snow in the south east, I think its going to be a 'nowcast' event with lamp post watching early in the morning. Happy iv got tomorrow off but will be in Leicester square around lunch time on the beer for works xmas due Will be interesting to see the local forecast coming up in the next 10 mins or so..
  5. Thanks for that coast, very interesting to see what the top man has to say, and I would of thought there would be an update in the next couple of hours..
  6. I agree, they could come out with there view and end up a hero or with egg on there faces. Very difficult to call and thats what makes our Brittish weather so interesting. We are currently 12-18 hours away and there is still no certainty. The 12z should nail this....exciting times ahead. I'l be happy just to see a flake in this set up, still a long way to go this winter But hey what do I know, If i worked in the met office, this would probably sum my forecast up..
  7. The snow event tomorrow is very marginal and is going to be more of a 'nowcast' but the GFS 06Z does look good and goes on into the the night aswell. I'm not too sure how accurate this will be but I suppose its just for some fun http://hw.nwstatic.co.uk/gfsimages/gfs.20111215/06/27/prectypeuktopo.png http://hw.nwstatic.co.uk/gfsimages/gfs.20111215/06/30/prectypeuktopo.png http://hw.nwstatic.co.uk/gfsimages/gfs.20111215/06/36/prectypeuktopo.png

  10. Wind is really starting to pick up now, looking at the radar it's going to get very wet very soon. Exciting weather for the south east tonight
  11. We have a ring around the moon tonight and when I researched this, it said that folklaw has is that when there is a ring around the moon, it signifies bad weather is coming. Eg a low system aka storm. I found it interesting with what is currently showing on the models next week. Who knows ey Source http://home.hiwaay.net/~krcool/Astro/moon/moonring/
