  1. A few pics from around the Fishponds Park in Surbiton where the snow fell heavily for a good hour or two before some milder air popped in.
  2. What a lovely fall you had, I bet Epsom Downs was fantastic... might just creep there if any snow is left tomorrow:) We got a few cm with very heavy snowfall for a while before it went a bit splodgy but overall very happy with our walk to the local park. Will post a few pics later. I hope loads of people got a good covering of snow, it feels like years since we enjoyed this kind of snowfall in the SW London part of town.
  3. Same! Took 1 hour from 'it's 10 minutes away' to finally arriving here in Surbiton! Big flakes now:)
  4. Hope so. My sisters in Guildford and Reading have sent me their snow pics while the radar sits the front tantalisingly close to here! Enjoy yours
  5. I'm wondering if it's stalling, seems to be taking an age to get here!
  6. Very heavy frost here in Surbiton and very dark skies with the radar saying we are about to get SNOW?️ All dressed and ready to go!
  7. This is something that concerned me on the BBC forecast this morning; there were definite blues in amongst the white across the region and it looked questionable across our area. That said, some of the predictions seem more optimistic for the SW London/Surrey area. As others have said, a definite 'wait and see'/radar watch situation for the next 24 hours. Hopefully we all get to go out and enjoy some proper snow... responsibly of course.... Beautiful sunny morning here with high cloud and a few thicker cauliflowers off in the distance; looking forward to a lovely walk this afternoon.
  8. So scary for you both/all! Not had snow like it since in our local area.
  9. All fingers and toes crossed for snowfall with the spiders webs and cobwebs cleared off the sledges in the shed. Probably jinxed it now! Since last week's non-snow event, I've been spying out possible sledging locations that won't be too busy but fall in the 'local area', just in case, you never know... Although with barely a few flakes falling since the new year, even the family are making fun of the potential event now Just checked my profile - 2008, so a noob in comparison to you and Paul Sherman. I was on the Metcheck forum (never posted) before finding Netweather after events over there. Was it you, Great Plum, who during the - maybe 2010 cold spell - put out a message in case anyone had a 4x4 and could help out your stranded wife? Or was that someone else? The old memory....;) Rain earlier, cleared now for the evening dog walk so nice and wintry feeling.
  10. I woke up at 6am to heavy wet snow falling but not settling, it soon turned to heavy rain and windy for a while. Finding local places to walk that are not a mud-fest is getting more difficult as water from the weeks of rain doesn't have sufficient time to drain away, meaning more folk out pavement walking and jogging resulting in endless diversions onto the road for the fabled 2m social distancing. I may sound a little down....
  11. Sparkly frost all over the cars greeted us on our evening walk in Surbiton but, as you say, cloud was developing overhead. I too hope those of us on the western side get to join in on the snow fun ?️
  12. Same here in Surbiton! Although 6am is a little early for me, so I'm hoping the will we/won't we snow will still be around at 7am .... you know, if we get it.... Only had a few minutes of wet snow on New Year's day in the garden so far this winter, so many fingers and toes crossed.
  13. Don't say that IDO, Reigate Hill is our go-to spot when Surbiton is way too low lying for snow! Fingers crossed that everyone gets in on tomorrow's 'snowmageddon';) And sorry to hear that Xander, don't let it get you down, keep up your enthusiasm and learning, your efforts are much appreciated around here and all of what you are putting in will take you far.
  14. Oh so true! I'm setting the alarm for 7am (unknown for a Saturday!) and getting the lad up for a good old-fashioned snow walk if it comes off (big if). I was looking at the sledges in the shed yesterday, optimistically purchased in 2013 and unused since - could their time have come?! Grey and overcast this morning in Surbiton. Off for a sludgy walk later in the mud baths that are the local parks and woodlands.... hmmm... that could make for a mucky sledging experience tomorrow.... Ah well, as you say Nick F, beggars can't be choosers;) My fingers are all crossed.
  15. Agreed, and his outrageous and vicious personal attacks on Tamara were something once witnessed never forgotten, not sure why he survived those TBH, let alone the rest of it. Over-emotional it might be, but it's outright abusive in my book. Absolutely chucking it down here, send a boat please for the dog walk!
  16. Grey and drizzly this morning, waking up to a cold house even with a functioning boiler (I hope those without are keeping warm somehow). I see doom and gloom in the MAD this morning as the Siberian style winter synoptics seem off the table, for now anyway. But, as others have said, 1. we're in the fallout from an SSW, so expect great uncertainty in the models, 2. the best dates for us were always 23 Jan and onwards, 3. we might have snow this week anyway, 4. we aren't all seeking sub-20 uppers and 10ft snow drifts, a day or two of snow to enjoy would be rather nice and would avoid mass disruption to hospital care and the vaccinations programme. I try to stay positive and on-topic, but if I can just chime in on the 'banned' poster debate with a less popular POV - I have a long memory and the author of the sausage-shaped high has been on my ignore list for a very long time...
  17. Exact same with me in the 1980s in the West Country too. Grew up in a 1960s Wimpey house and by the 1980s the windows were rotting so during the severe spells my father put clear plastic to cover the windows.... and I woke up one morning to snow on the inside, between the window frame and the plastic! I feel like a 'luxury' sketch is coming on;) Grey and damp looking out there this morning, haven't ventured beyond the front door as cooking a roast dinner. Looking at the comments around the forum, dare I feel optimistic for snow in 10-14 days' time? Could it happen? Please?!
  18. A beautiful clear skies afternoon was followed by freezing fog this evening making for a beautiful park walk and then a dog in a hurry to get home from his evening trot around the block.
  19. Same in Surbiton, looking very carefully as I got in the car some tiny flakes were visible. 0 degrees on car temperature.
  20. Have you checked out the dedicated threads on Netweather looking in more detail at this? For example in the learning area. There are so many knowledgeable people around: https://www.netweather.tv/forum/learning/
  21. Brother-in-law in Athens reported snow falling outside as he Skyped us wrapped in a blanket as it was too cold; two days previously he swam in the sea! We have that drizzly rain here that soaks you. I am very disappointed; better luck next time I suppose.... Also @stainesbloke, so sorry to hear you have Covid again; I hope you recover speedily and without any long-term effects.
  22. Same here in Surbiton around 1.30pm when it sort of snowed then turned to sleet then rain all in the space of 5 minutes! Happy New Year to all of the Netweather community:)
  23. Wow, wind and rain is so strong, whipping at the house so loudly the windows and walls are rattling like mad and woke me up. Btw merry Christmas all
  24. Looking at the NW local forecast I'm getting snow on Friday.... YIPPEE! On BBC weather this morning, Carol seemed to show clear skies over London on Friday in a sort of centre of the low sort of way. Did I misunderstand the chart? And yes, I've always promised I would never ask a 'will it snow in my back garden' question.... but anyway.... you know, snow....
  25. Goodness me, I take a couple of weeks away from Netweather due to work commitments and return to talk of snow?! Well, fingers crossed for the first snow chase of the season A beautiful morning in Surbiton, love the crisp cool days, more please with some of the white stuff too
