Snow line this side of the Pentlands looks to be about 200m, maybe slightly lower. Plenty of cars coming in from Balerno / Carnwath direction with plenty of snow on them. Just too exposed to the Forth on this occasion here.
I think the biggest problem was the path of the showers. Last night they mostly came in from the northeast crossing the eastern side of Edinburgh and continuing south over Straiton/Penicuik area and further south. Currie/Balerno only managed to get on the edge of a few flurries as we needed a slightly more easterly flow to bring them this way.

Totally missed it but hopefully a few showers over the coming days! I picked a good day to start cycling to work again after 3 years at home! Absolutely frozen getting in tonight! Might need to rethink the shorts tomorrow
I did leave it a good 10 mins before posting about the snow shower so as not to steal your thunder.
You can report on the next one!

Hi folks, here’s to hopefully a decent winter to come.
Just had a light snow shower here giving the finest dusting on all surfaces.

I'm struck by the temperature here. Don't recall seeing a single forecast that had +2c at 7am! Especially given that some realtively nearby coastal locations are still sub zero!
I’m at 0.2 on my garden thermometer but I don’t know how accurate it is. First time above 0 for a long time though. I guess the dew points must have risen too. It’s been a decent cold spell though but it was always looking like coming to an end this weekend so not too unexpected.
Maybe we can get a bfte in January!

Morning all, good to see some people doing well out of this, even @Hawesy
i looked out about 5.30 and there was a fresh covering of powdery looking snow but temps have obviously lifted and it’s a slushy covering on top of the old snow now. Probably the lack of intensity to the band has played its part. Oh well, hopefully we won’t have to wait too long for our next cold spell.

This wee clump of showers looks like it reinvigorated after crossing the Forth. Maybe one for @Kirkcaldy Weather

Hi folks, things are starting get interesting!
Hopefully we’ve got a decent winter ahead of us after a last years poor effort. Without wanting to jinx things, I’m looking forward to reading our resident experts views and analysis over the coming days, weeks and months and the snow reports from everyone.

Wow, didn’t expect so much more snow during the night!
I’ll let @101_Northreport on measurements but looks like possibly another 5 inches.
I had cleared the car of snow last night and as you can see it’s covered in another thick coating again.

Think I've underestimated depths here slightly. 5cm fallen today on cleared paths taking the total closer to 19cm! Hoping to break 20cm
I’m counting on you as I never got round to measuring.

I think we’ve had a bit of a raw deal out of this cold spell.
