  1. this is my feeling dont get me wrong i luv this,

and i wait with fingers toes everything crossed,

but we coldies might have a breakdown tomorrow so im going for this as a phantom runs lol.

but by god i hope im wrong,

white christmas i never seen one of them in my llife so it would be something very special,

but i just dont trust the models there to erratic and very unrealistic in my opion.

Where ever you look all weather sites are predicting a cold and wintry christmas thats frightning .

White Christmas Forecast Issued: 2009-12-04 19:15:00

    Next Forecast: 2009-12-07 19:00:00

    Synopsis

The last few days has seen the charts give a real trend for quite a significant cold spell around the Chrsitmas week. It keeps it quite prolonged aswell. Should this set up come off, precipitation would be rather showery but perhaps frequent in places. We are still likely to be Dominated by LOW pressure but in this setup it shouldnt be too severe. With widespread showers possible in a cold setup then snow cover for much of the UK seems likely. The South and South West will occasionally be more prone to brief milder spells but the charts seem to display a pretty firm cold spell. Obviously this could all still change easily. The current outlook in summary is for a a fairly prolonged cold spell with wintry showers quite likely.

Weatheronline seems to say this is the best chance of a white christmas since 2003

  3. Well, after Darren Bett did the January Monthly Outlook and getting pretty much every detail wrong,im dubious. I really hope it will play out like they are saying though. If it does, it will be a very interesting month and ANOTHER below average CET!

Heres hoping...Say goodbye to winter if they say its going to be cold ,they wrong all the time with there monthly outlook!

  4. IT must be said well done to people on netweather ! There model out put predictions all winter have very informative , people like eye of the storm glacial storm etc have been accurate and informative john homes thanks again (are you sure you dont work for the met they need your help)

  5. Nearly all of that is for Ice overnight.

    Both

Both the GFS and UKMO models the band effecting SE Wales, and at this stage SW looks like missing out, but if the band is further west than originally thought then you never know.

Currently NMM has the band nowhere near Wales even, so it will be interesting to see this update later.

Looking at the met office radar seems to be heading smack bang on swales.

  6. I don't like the way the charts on the BBC totally play-down how widespread the snow showers could be.

Anyway, why are the forecasts talking about snow showers, when in fact there

will be more-organised bands of snowfall, associated with weather fronts?

Alex deacon just on bbc news with a weather warning for the next two days, seemed quit concerned on the ammount of snow we will have in the next 2days leading to major disruption .

  7. I think the server might slow slightly when there is a possible snow event on the way due to the number of people wanting to know if it will snow in Carlisle
I dont know about snow for carlisle, but for the met office to announce next week cold spell so far in advance it must be a sustained bitter spell of weather coming up in the next few weeks.
  8. Amazing scenes! Thanks for posting that footage. I remember it well, I was 17 at the time and the school choir's Transit van got stuck in a snow drift on the way back from a concert!

Those were the days when we had proper winters.........Mind you I'm looking out of the window with heavy snow falling atm..... Ha, ha!

I remember it well started snowing 6pm saturday finished 6pm sunday!

  9. please remember its not a forecast of snow for Monday, I simply used that day as it APPEARED to have something to talk about using the 06z data output.

So as Paul says its a test to see what is possible so please comment on the technical side not the forecast side.

Nice to see good old fashioned pressure charts hoorah!!
