  1. Given the latest 72hr fax for 12hrs Sat it doesn't come as a huge surprise to me. I think snow is possible down to sea level almost anywhere at times, especially in the heavier outbreaks/showers, but equally I wouldn't completely rule out some rain anywhere on low ground south of Scotland either - looks a bit of a cold mess IMO.

Thanks Worzel. Still can't understand those temps. of 4-5C behind the Occlusion with the air source obviously from the Arctic Circle.

  2. Have stocked up the food cupboards, have charcoal in garage, have candles is there anything else??

Sorry must stop this ramping, i think its the paracetamol and the hot toddy!!

I'm sending hubby out for a couple of hot water bottles to keep handy if/when the national grid crashes! :)

With temperature today just reached 7C it's unreal that they might even be needed!

  3. Cold spell continues here. 4th day in a row with thick freezing fog. Hasn't lifted. I wonder if it will be a really cold spell next midweek or this is as good as it gets?! Have lost count of the number of days with frost - wish I had kept an accurate record. It's been A LOT.

Perth Max Today is -1.1C and sunny with a heavy hoar frost now for four days. (Max Saturday 0.4C, Friday 0.2C).

  4. Imagine the old days when none of us followed the models as religiously as we do now...that week ahead forecast just now would have got us all excited without worrying what model was showing what! And I remember the BBC week ahead forecasts seldom got it wrong when talking about bitterly cold easterly winds setting in.

Yes just thinking the same thing. Back in the early 80's used to record Weatherfile on our new VHS Viideorecorder and watch expectantly on returning home from Church.

  5. Quiet agree mate.

I always appreciate your views on the models because not only do you provide a balanced view but your experience with the models is invaluable.

I strongly urge members to follow Paul B posts on this thread. Last night it must of been very difficult for new members to understand what the hell is going on. So with this in mind stick with Paul B, Nick Sussex, Steve M, John H.

Speaking of Steve M are you still doing a model tracker?

Add TEITS to that list as he is generally at the right end of the stick IMHO.
