  1. Fax chart for friday

    http://www.meteociel.fr/ukmo/fax/fax120s.gif

    Could be a wet day

Not too cold but temperature could fall by quite an amount by saturday 528 dam air over northern england and look at that cold air source on its way down.

Big shock regarding temperatures from friday onwards

Lol if asked to draw a perfect chart with a northerly for eastern parts, then that could be pretty close.

  2. Since 1st visiting this forum in 2006, i've stopped watching weather forecasts on tv because they do not give me a proper "weather fix".

The many great people on here make it such a vast pool of information, and give good in depth explanations as to what, and why the weather may do.

This is a post from Old Met Man from last Saturday,

"My guess is that the first sortie will more likely be from the N, as I said, so much depends on this northern block developing. Bit too early to expect any real cold yet, which is why I am following the thickness charts closely to watch for any cold pooling in the area you mention, plus the Arctic region in general. Like I said in another post, the cooling seems to be happening quite quickly.

Give it a few more days and see if the longer term trends are coming into line in the model output with regard to blocking or not.

Now where else would you find such a prediction that looks like it may well come off!!

Well done to Old Met Man good.gif

  3. Blimey, is it really 25 years since the great storm? Don't think I will ever forget that night - I even remember watching the now infamous weather forecast the night before!

Yes indeed, lived in Essex at the time and it has to be the worst single weather event i have ever seen.

One thing that allways sticks in the mind was how thick tree trunks were twisted clean in half by the wind.

  4. Anyone have any info on that monster of a storm near the Ely/Littleport areas? Surely has to be golfball sized hail and flooding within that, I've been seeing tonnes of lightning clearly from over 20 miles away! It looks really rather insane!

Yes went to the fens today to take my daughter to see some dolls houses, lucky took the camera and saw the storm you are referring to. Had frequent lightning every 5 seconds, constant thunder and hail. Have some pics to upload later trust me it was a beast.!

  5. Your not wrong and some of them are nasty, my brother got bitten on the face and ended up having an adrenaline shot and in hospital after his face and tongue swelled up!

This is ideal breading after the rain we have had now the warmth, they are at it like nobodies business now! Lol

Yes lots of em about at the moment.

Also interesting how every body i know has been munched to death, but me and my 2 kids are fine.

A good tip is to get a face cloth (flannel) soaked in hot water and hold it on the bites for a min, repeat a couple more times and they will stop itching. The flannel has to be as hot as you can bear, the bite will hurt at 1st but it will disappear days faster aswell.

  6. Unbelievable views of the building storm earlier around 8pm, scud cloud like an american storm, coming right to the ground at times about a mile from where i was standing, I'm almost certain i saw some rotation aswell, I videoed it, I will upload later.....heavy rain now.

Yes I wasnt even aware of any storm forecast today, but looked out the window and noticed the lower base clouds racing in from the east, as you say looked very impressive.
