Uk met 144 chart
http://s9.postimage.org/4wfb0ikdp/UKMO.gif
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Tomorrow will be interesting viewing
Jesus, if its cold enough that would drive the mother of all snow showers down the north sea.
Whatever though it will feel very raw.

I've just been looking at GFS, from the 12:00 update and it's looking like an impressive cold spell for the time of year is coming up. However I can't get too excited by a cold spell this early, except for its relative rarity.
If only it was a month later...
Yes agree in December that would be a snow fest.
After a rather non eventful day weather wise, a nice sunset.

If of a nervous disposition do not click the link above :-)
If only it was December, this place would be on a meltdown!

Since 1st visiting this forum in 2006, i've stopped watching weather forecasts on tv because they do not give me a proper "weather fix".
The many great people on here make it such a vast pool of information, and give good in depth explanations as to what, and why the weather may do.
This is a post from Old Met Man from last Saturday,
"My guess is that the first sortie will more likely be from the N, as I said, so much depends on this northern block developing. Bit too early to expect any real cold yet, which is why I am following the thickness charts closely to watch for any cold pooling in the area you mention, plus the Arctic region in general. Like I said in another post, the cooling seems to be happening quite quickly.
Give it a few more days and see if the longer term trends are coming into line in the model output with regard to blocking or not.
Now where else would you find such a prediction that looks like it may well come off!!
Well done to Old Met Man

Blimey, is it really 25 years since the great storm? Don't think I will ever forget that night - I even remember watching the now infamous weather forecast the night before!
Yes indeed, lived in Essex at the time and it has to be the worst single weather event i have ever seen.
One thing that allways sticks in the mind was how thick tree trunks were twisted clean in half by the wind.
-
Lashing it down here a massive flash of lightening and clap of thunder, was covering over the guinea pig and nearly took myself out with the bungee!
Please take care out there, bungee jumping not recommended during thunderstorms, and i dare say the pigs wont be too impressed either.
;-)

Morning all, cycling to work in a min, time to get the water proofs out again!
Christ it must be bad in Sussex and Kent, that line of showers is still there from last night.

Cloud all gone, nice sunny day here. Has anybody noticed the lack of wasps this year?
Not complaining though they usually chase us when having a cider in the garden lol.
-
Anyone have any info on that monster of a storm near the Ely/Littleport areas? Surely has to be golfball sized hail and flooding within that, I've been seeing tonnes of lightning clearly from over 20 miles away! It looks really rather insane!
Yes it was a monster check out post no 554!

Yes went to the fens today to take my daughter to see some dolls houses, lucky took the camera and saw the storm you are referring to. Had frequent lightning every 5 seconds, constant thunder and hail. Have some pics to upload later trust me it was a beast.!
-
Whilst out on a trip across the fens today, saw an amazing storm. Shall upload pics later. Amazing torrential rain and hailstones with constant thunder, best storm ive seen in years.
-
Anybody up near Hunstanton area its getting a pounding on the radar.
Will be a great day for taking pictures of clouds.
-
Looking good for our region for a change, some explosive stuff kicking off to the south.
With these temps a good chance of some proper storms, nothing better than heavy rain on a really hot day, feels and smells amazing.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL
-
A few showers today and a few rumbles, but dissapointed as there have been some big storms pretty nearby that all missed me.
Radar looking very impressive for huntingdon/goddy, enjoy!
Yes mate, been one of those days here had 3 storms today, very rare they usually split here and join back up over Norfolk lol
-

Dark as night here with constant thunder !!!!

Sky telly gone
-
Remember them days when the lot of that would be surging its way towards us. We're a far cry from that now by the looks of it
Yes remember many "all nighters" back in the 1980s. As a child i used to sleep on the window sill watching lightning all for hours on end. All we had was the bbc weather saying storms will spread up from the continent, it was so much simpler then lol
-
Your not wrong and some of them are nasty, my brother got bitten on the face and ended up having an adrenaline shot and in hospital after his face and tongue swelled up!
This is ideal breading after the rain we have had now the warmth, they are at it like nobodies business now! Lol
Yes lots of em about at the moment.
Also interesting how every body i know has been munched to death, but me and my 2 kids are fine.
A good tip is to get a face cloth (flannel) soaked in hot water and hold it on the bites for a min, repeat a couple more times and they will stop itching. The flannel has to be as hot as you can bear, the bite will hurt at 1st but it will disappear days faster aswell.

Unbelievable views of the building storm earlier around 8pm, scud cloud like an american storm, coming right to the ground at times about a mile from where i was standing, I'm almost certain i saw some rotation aswell, I videoed it, I will upload later.....heavy rain now.
Yes I wasnt even aware of any storm forecast today, but looked out the window and noticed the lower base clouds racing in from the east, as you say looked very impressive.
-
Local annual event here at Godmanchester, picnic in the park with live music cancelled this morning, too muddy.
First time I can remember this happening due to bad weather
-
Distant thunder ...........
No its a plane, these pilots have no consideration for us storm lovers.
-
Only got one flash and one rumble from that
Hope it intensifies for you
Cheers mate, a bit of rain would be nice.
A flash and bang would be a bonus lol

Lol if asked to draw a perfect chart with a northerly for eastern parts, then that could be pretty close.
