  1. I do feel sorry for anyone originally forecast to have snow but didnt get any. My area has been pasted both now and last weekend. Its a shame westerners missed out on it again. Many were forecast for a shift east, including me. But this is ridiculous. Just goes to show the "experts" at the met office know no more than anyone on here. They should hire TEITS as he was goimg for eastward shift when the "experts" wanted it all in the west. Very, very poor from the met office and beeb, put way to much confidence in their model.

I must say TEITS nailed it again. I don't bother with forecasts I just read what Dave has to say. well done Dave.

  2. Guys, im here to find out whats happening today/tonight. Not to watch you all Bit*h fight. It seems like its all shifted again (havent been on since yesterday afternoon). So the SE now looks like a little snow and mainly rain. Is this correct????

Please help to answer guys and stop the fighting....

Hardley a bit*h fight. Just two knowledgable guys discussing their differing oppinions if you ask me. Its good for the forum.

  3. OK

    Here is the proof.

In July 2009, I climbed to the top of the Highest Mountain in the UK, Ben Nevis, just to see some snow!! see attached.

So, its now official, no one is more mad about snow that me, are they?

OK ,so it was part of the three peaks challenge, doing it again this may! but we did have a great snowball fight in the UK in July, not many have done that.

Actually I am more mad about snow than you I spent £2000 flying to Lapland to see snow and loved it that much I went again the next year, and when I was sixteen I flew to Canada ( did they have planes in them days) to see a white christmas and for the first time in 17 yrs it did not snow untill boxing day, but it was 4ft so I did'nt mind.

Oh and there is no attachment. :acute:

  4. Personally I would take little notice of the warnings and I would say the same if Peterborough had a take action warning.

Nobody really knows how the precip will develop. All I know is the snow in the SE will spread NW and could bring 48hrs of persistant snowfall. I would actually say the Met O have this wrong for Monday. The GFS indicates the snow will be heavier in N England but also N parts of this region ie. N Norfolk, N Cambs.

As for the BBC and to be honest some of their forecasts have been very odd. Last night no blobs across our region and yet the radar/sat suggested otherwise. The snow event last Tues was handled poorly and it took the BBC till 6pm to say what I said at 10am!

The problem these days is too much focus is placed on the models. A simple glance at the radar/sat can give a much more accurate forecast.

Wow 48hrs Dave? What period are you talking about, this thats travelling north at the moment?

  5. They are reading my posts! Thanks guys. I'm doing my bit to keep everyone up-to-date. :(

NMM still keen on this idea of a front coming down after the main band sinks southwards which could deposit an additional 1-2cm of snow across the county towards the late morning.

LOTS to keep an eye on but overall confidence is increasing on a fair bit of snow around the county over the next 24 hrs, particularly the further south and west you go.

All that coming up through London on the radar can't miss us. Can it ?

  6. Lates from the MetO for Northamptonshire.

NorthamptonshireHeavy Snow1800 Tue 51100 Wed 6Outbreaks of snow will turn heavy this evening and overnight giving fresh accumulations of 10-15 cm in places and perhaps locally in excess of 20 cm. This could cause widespread disruption to transport.

The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the Highways Agency for further advise on traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads.

Issued at: 1150 Tue 5 Jan

Yeeeeeees looks like I'll be out on my quad all day tomorrow then.

  7. I think we will see snow. Whether it will be as heavy or prolonged as counties to our south and west is uncertain. Clearly the Met Office don't think so. But I think the potential is definitely there based on the GFS and other models.

Love that avatar :) I never seen a take action issued before, 40cm forecast for London that is going to carnage down there.

  8. Just noticed that myself on raintoday ! Havent got a clueunknw.gif

But if it does exist its heading towards you ....

EDIT...Was heading towards you, on raintoday the 8am update just halved its size.

I'll keep an eye out the window, think it might just miss me I am south of the M1, but the guys in Wellingborough and Rushden look on course.
