  4. The underwater volcanic eruption looks incredible. Lucky people being in the right place at the right time
  5. Thanks for the help guys  thats makes a lot more sense now. I knew some erupt underwater but not that they collapse but that makes perfect sense now - thanks for the links Lady P, will have to keep them for future reference. One more question SC I'm stuck on the measusement of lava cu m you mention below? Not sure if my guess is right - cubic unit meters? Probably made that up knowing my luck!! So if the volcano in Niyragongo is distructive and erupts...is it distructive along the lines of Mount St Helens or pyroclastic flow destructive? Sorry for the bombardment of questions!!
  6. how does that happen? eruption? caves in under the pressure?? never heard that before..anyone able to shed light on it?
  7. I don't suppose it's possible to watch these online as I have no tv?
  8. Looks like Rebout is one stubbon volcano keeping everyone on their toes!!
  9. B) wish I had Discovery that would be really interesting to watch
  10. SC your time has not be wasted. I have learnt so much more about volcanoes than I ever expected to thanks to the links you posted. I wouldn't have known about these volcanoes nearing eruption until potentially afterwards (if they ever blow) which would be a real shame to think I could have been following the progression up to the potential eruption. Just because one individual thinks badly/wrong/whatever he wants to classify it of what you write doesn't mean the rest of us do. Heck I'm guilty of thinking I knew a lot about volcanoes before commenting in this tread, turns out I knew enough to get by and I'm going to guess most people have their own guesses as to when the eruption could take place I've got my guesses wrong so many times and with the information recieved later during the day or week I've gained knowledge as to why my thinking was wrong. TP just because you may think differently about the information SC says doesn't mean you should have a go at him. I'm not having a go at you but you've just cost me a lot of new information which has resparked a lost dream and it's terribly sad to know I'm not going to have such easy access to finding about future events. TP on the remark about low intellegence that cannot take part - I've asked and written some very amatuer knowledged stuff and people probably laughed at it (I did!) but without someone helping to give resources to increase the intellegence on a subject matter surely it would stay low? If you have some information feel free to post it, but I don't think there's a more frequent up to date poster (since I started replying) than SC. Shame it came to this SC
  11. noooo I missed that stunning images though. This is what I've seen so far this afternoon
  12. geez I've falled behind on half of this, Mount Asama looking like it's producing some more lava up to the cone, I don't know if there's enough pressure this time for the eruption thats beyond my knowledge and current resources
  13. Seems to have died down again but was exciting for a while. Managed to get some screen shots of some of the lava reaching the cone. Don't think there was enough pressure though for the eruption at the time
  14. something is happening with Mount Asama - red colouring is appearing in the clouds at the cone - not sure if this is the start of an eruption but its great to watch http://bousai.maechan.net/volcano/asama/maechan/latest.shtml
  15. Gosh so much activity I'm struggling to keep up!!
