wallpapering a ceiling is a very accurate description.
Also applies to pet travel carriers and vets appointments.
I love Simon's cat! His new book is hilarious.
If this snow doesn't ease, I will have to take His Lordship outside and
hold an umbrella over him while he thinks about it.
Getting to work tomorrow is going to be tricky.. just seen a 4x4 go down the hill sideways!
Snow seems to be getting heavier too.
Hehehehehehehehe I quite agree about the umbrella, I keep finding them sneaking into the garage and sitting purposefully on one of my motorbikes, then seeing them skatter as the alarm goes off, again!
Gosh, if 4x4 are having trouble then I'm deffinetly "working from home" tomorrow

Still snowing here on the IOW.
Just been out for a walk and we have at least 3 inches, and it's still coming down heavily.
My cat is NOT impressed.
He hasn't had a pee since this morning and he's started to walk funny.
But will he go out? Um, no. He won't.
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!
Neither of my cats like going outside either, instead they use the bathroom mats, lovley. Putting them out the cat flap is like trying to wallpaper a ceiling. They really hate snow, and cold. They now command the biggest radiators in the house, and hiss at me if I go anywhere near them (the radiators)
Infact the're getting more like Simon's cat every day!

Its gone very slushy here in Basingstoke, not much in the way of big flakes. I don't think this'll beat what Basingstoke experianced before Christmas.
I'm hoping that the heavy percip comes to pass later on, and hopefully the temps would have dropped too.
-
Theres only about an inch in Basingstoke (well Oakley), looks like there's more to come on the radar.
-
Potential for up to 25cm's of snow if the channel low comes off as predicted.
[trying hard not to get excited]
-
The watch is on! I got caught out last time (before Christmas) and got stuck at work (Basingstoke), then braved the long trek home on my motorbike in the snow and ice.
Hopefully this time I wont get caught out.
Anyway...
It would seem that the whole of Hampshire is on a 50/50 chance of seeing snow. Up here in North Hampshire its been pretty good, but I understand why others in Hants are still dreaming of a white-out. The model variations are so dramatic that I wouldn't want to put money on it either way (snow vs. no-snow).

Be nice if we got some in central England
-
Nothing so far in Reading, although I wouldn't expect anything if at all.
-
No chance!
Where on earth is it going to come from?
I think this is the MO butt-covering. There's a chance for another snow event in a few weeks time, but thats it for this year.
-
Its been seriously odd here in Basingstoke (North Hampshire). All days its been snow shower, thaw, snow shower, thaw, pretty much every hour.
So glad I didn't go to work today, I'd hate to think what the roads will be like come 5:30/6:00.
Its now a complete white out, the 6th or 7th today!
I haven't seen weather like this since the late '80's early '90's, its remarkable and wonderful. I've filled 4 1GB memory cards with pictures.
Here's hoping this weekends "event" brings some more!

snowfall in basingstoke (finally)... covering the roads and grass. currently light snowfall.
Yep! And I've turned into an 8 year old again! At long flippin last! Wondering whether to get the dirt bike out now before it all melts!
-
It's certainly not that now - big fat flakes and getting heavier
yup, major climb down, its snowing here in Basingstoke too!
-
Have you looked out of the window recently, its pretty heavy again here now, on its way down the A303 to Wiltshire
OK ok it just started to snow!
Humidity has gone up from 35% to 39%, temp is still at -3
-
I know me too ....was hoping couldnt go... It is probably my fault anyway as I bought a camera today to take some snow shots...blame me.
Yeah I went through and charged all my batteries for the camera, told everyone I knew to expect the worst, and now I have major egg on my face! Doh!
-
that will include west berks too then...just had about 36 flakes..and then now...nil..rien..nothing..
At last! I'm not going mad, it really isn't snowing in Hampshire, or Berkshire. Bum, that means I will have to go to work afterall!
-
Snowing here aswel yay!
HUGE MAJOR SEVERE RED ALERT WARNING!
DRIFTS OF 4MM BLOWING IN THE WIND, I ADVISE PEOPLE TO TAKE EXTRA CARE
HAHAHAHAHAHHAAH LMAO! women and children first!
-
Look out the window it's snowing right now
One or two flakes in the very strong wind, but thats it
i just can't understand it, the models, graphs, radar, everything looked set, but it just hasn't happened.
-
You must have snow in Basingstoke - we have a good covering here just past Popham off the A303?
Nope sadly not, I've been eagerly waiting for it and nothings happened. It was bright and sunny all day, its got colder and colder (currently -3) my weather station says 53% humidity with a dry and bright tendancy.
I'm at a loss as to why we haven't got any.
-
Something with the models must have gone wrong, Hampshire was pretty much guaranteed snow and nothings happened, typical.
For those that have snow, post some pics.......please :-D
-
Clearly it is not snowing, the radar lies. This has been the biggest disappointment since 2003.
The MO couldn't predict yesterdays news let alone the weather.
-
Nothings happened in Basingstoke (North Hampshire) yet. I work in Reading, should be interesting to see what happens overnight.
Temp has dropped steadily all day, now down to -1.6.
Its been bright and clear all day.
-
Not sure if this is the right thread to ask this question in, but I'll try anyway.
Could anyone point me in the direction of any research on on the weather charts etc following the grounding of aircraft after Septemerber 11 2001?
I'm interested to learn if the grounding on mass of aircraft had any effect on weather patterns.

Anyone know whats happened to the "system" that was predicted last Sunday to be coming over the south eastern UK this weekend?
