  1. Looks like another frost tonight from memory I reckon about 40 ground frosts since mid November ? could any friendly member confirm this ? even non frost days it has been cold / cool, without the couple of really balmy mild spells , we could have seen a really low avg winter temp
  2. Lovely snow moon again this morning shame it’s only illuminating frost not snow …..
  3. Think the depth of cold has been mentioned before , here and other threads . I agree the frosts have had some bite this year mothers natures way of preparing us for the historical one in a 250 year winter 23/24
  4. Another winters night another frost at least we’ve had plentiful cold just no major snow ….. yet
  5. Thanks for the report MIA as stated above ice growth outwards from the pole has been minimul , will this hamper melt season ?? Or has high. Pressure helped thicken the ice already in place ? could a late season outward spread of ice still be possible ? looks like next year will be Shetland’s ice shelf link up
  6. Yes it was a cold first 2 weeks in my locale snowed on 6 th and 12th but I was talking a decent dumping 3 inches first Saturday / Sunday April 2008 spring to mind and I remember one sometime in late 80,s as a young one !!!- a large overnight dumping
  7. What looked like a nice crisp sunny day at 8.30 am has changed into a freezing fog morning !! the fog descended about 9.30 and seems to be thickening could help the snow patches survive another day
  8. Hi , what do you feel is the reason for the surprising level of cold ??
  9. Frosting over and icing up again , in this northern outpost of the Black Country The snow will survive on last night which seeing as it was only a covering of 32mm last Wednesday morning is in its own way impressive it has been a decent cold spell in my neck of the woods 10 days of cold with snow and long lasting patchy snow cover ….. looking forward to the next one
  10. Yes a cold day today snow remains in the shade !! As others have mentioned this time last week tomo was forecast to be 9 deg c now it’s unlikely to get much above freezing
  11. Just need the sea ice (yellow) to reach Aberdeen then northerlies will have a real bite
  12. Looks it for snow barring anymore surprises better cold spell than the December one for this location already originally was going to warm up tomo now Tuesday until we get to the dizzy heights of 7 deg c
