  1. Nicki - if you go into My Controls, and click on Personal Profile - then under Edit Personal Profile, key in where you are, it will enable us to see where you are coming from - literally! Bernard. Yes, I want my £3 back!
  2. This is obviously a hoax message because I happen to know they didn't have email in 1651.
  3. Well. I am 5 miles from Framlingham and apart from an inch on the first day last week we have seen nothing of any consequence - mind you, with weather from a SW direction we seldom do. It is easterlies that normally bring us any snow. This is a northerly source and although the radar suggests we will get hit this time I am not so sure - it smells like another damp squib at the moment. East Suffolk watchers have developed an "I'll beieve it when I see it" stance, and have learned the hard way not to believe everything people tell us - particularly weather men! (and people from Norfolk). Several Suffolkers post on here so check again before you leave if poss to see if anbything has changed, but at the moment it is overcast and DRY. Bernard.
  4. As the person who first mentioned polish (as in cars) can we now draw a line under this. My son has just got engaged to a lovely young lady from....... you've guessed it!..... true!
  5. Pleased to agree with you - as soon as I posted I went back to the radar and saw the bright areas appearing - just goes to show! Perhaps I'm getting a bit cynical after missing nearly all the snow last week. And just to whet the appetite, I am copying over a post from West Is Best on the Model Output Discussion thread - they tend to be level-headed folk! "Well what a sensational suite of runs the 12z outputs have brought. There's little doubt that we are in one of those great great winter periods that people will talk about for years to come, so the best thing is just to sit back, enjoy it and be safe. The Monday night storm will bring blizzards for some, track dependant, and then we're just back to a cold reload of epic potential with height rise to the north, followed by any number of snowy or cold scenarios thereafter. The goal I have in sight is finally to put to bed Stratos Ferric's sub 3C challenge for a 'modern' winter month. This was apparently no longer possible. Well, judging by the 12z model outputs tonight February 2009 is in with a real shout. "
  6. You are like me at the moment the radar is suggesting that as it gets to you it is weakening - the whole band looks as if it is getting slimmer and it's breaking up as it comes towards you and me. The light pink is not really worth the money it's printed on tonight but with patience we may see something, although you are nearer the sleet/rain I think?
  7. I suggest you read the Model Output Discussion thread. You can find this by selecting Winter Discussion (where this thread is), and then scroll down to the sub-heading Forum Topics - it is usually in the first three or so under there. Although it is technical, if you read the previous 4 pages or so you will find some discussion of the Tuesday event - they don't like questions from people who don't understand the charts though, so I read it passively myself. There is also a video nearby about Tuesday's event called Watching the Channel Low - it is great, but when it was issued it was not hopeful of a very snowy event. It may have been overtaken by events since then, but it is very informative anyway. Mark and learn - there will be a test later! Bernard.
  8. With all the polish and finishing coats, rain runs off car horizontal surfaces except for a very fine film - so snow will settle on that relatively quickly - the ground, unless frozen, has a thicker surface of water and takes longer (grass sticks up so snow settles quite well on it too).
  9. BBC1 has just said that Northants has been especially unlucky to have had huge snowfalls twice this week. Are we in East Anglia feeling sorry for them?
  10. Still only sleet here in north Suffolk - will it turn or not?
  11. Last time I looked it was under Winter Discussion, then scroll down to Forum Topics section, and it was the second or third thread title - has the word Model in it.
  12. You need to read the Model Output discussion thread - they have been on about this for about two days now - very excited about their models for the coming weekend - they take a more national outlook than this localised thread though. Still, makes interesting reading, even if I don't understand any of their technical bits! Bernard.
  13. You know that vertical line on the local radar separating snow to the West and sleet to the East, well it goes exactly through my postcode, and when I last looked out, lo and behold, it was snowing in my back garden and sleeting in my front garden!
  14. Worlingworth, north Suffolk - about 1 centimetre; -2C.
  15. Nothing north of Suffolk for about 70 miles - very clear surprisingly - not your turn tonight.
  16. We don't have street lights in Worlingworth - really out in the countryside - you have to stand still, tilt your head right back, and count the flakes into your mouth per minute to decide the intensity of the precipitation! Great stars though when it's clear.
  17. Yep - I've got access to the radar - I paid for it like everyone else.
  18. Watching the radar for the last couple of hours the showers seem to grow once inland a few miles.
  19. Worlingworth is in an area called High Suffolk (it.s all relative!), and we seem to catch the snow from easterlies. We have also noticed that if there is rain about but it is dry in Worlingworth, it is alsways raining in Eye - don't know why - perhaps someone can explain?
  20. 15 miles to the north of you and getting similar - just catching the top edge of this line of showers - further north into Norfolk probably not getting so much. Any Norfolk replies?
  21. Dave3R "so what are the debts of snow going to be for the south east as the bbc keep changing they say 25cm then back to 15 cm totaly confused!" you really are confused - this is a weather thread - I think you want Moneyfacts or similar?
