  1. welcome to the forum as usual there is always hype for about the first week then when model outputs start firming up and its suddenly not in there back yard then the negative posts will appear just look out for what the experienced posters say ps you should see this place when there is a sniff off snow its unreal
  2. this mornings output is nothing less than shocking 44mph projected wind speeds for the Glasgow Area on Monday is either a massive downgrade of this storm or further proof that the models still have no firm grasp on this storm?

  4. the met-office invent map i think was a trial for there new web page which is slowly rolling out to be completed by 2012 as far as i know
  5. Afternoon folks looking really interesting weather coming up for the north and Scotland let's hope it's not too disruptive Sunday evening looking really stormy as well going to dig out the camera for Monday anyone want to take bets on my fence Staying up ?
  6. met office updated for tuesday Having eased overnight winds may strengthen again during the day. The Central Lowlands of Scotland and exposed parts of N Ireland and N England perhaps most prone.

  9. orange walk out today in Glasgow so will hold off a bit till they clear anyway back to katia I noticed the change to the met-office warnings i expect further changes to there warnings before 6pm tonight
  10. just a quick update then I am out of here from my local weather station
  11. yes i have my 8ft posts concreted in this time around however its the fence slats that can still need replacing right folks stay safe wherever you are in the UK over the weekend i am off out to the supermarket and have family to visit so i likely wont be back on til sunday
  12. i think we all want to catch the worst of this storm that's why we are all here but in reality i really cant afford to rebuild my fence again at least not this year with the squeeze on household spending
  13. had thunder and lightning last night that was not even forecast so expect the worst and hope for the best yes i think it will be as its predicted path is the central belt of Scotland Glasgow and Edinburgh likely taking the worst of any damage or disruption
  14. TBH the model outputs i am not really taking much notice of the predicted wind speeds as with any storm the models never really get it 100% correct
  15. my location on the NW model outputs have me for gusts up to 58mph and your location expecting 41mph i think the models really don't have a proper handle on this storm just yet
  16. LOL yeah i sometimes feel blessed living in Scotland with the amount of snow and storms we get but nothing unusual for a north Atlantic country however i sometimes wish i was living in the south with warmer weather in the summer
  17. Stormy weather heading for the UK The forecast team at the Met Office are continuing to keep an eye on the remains of Hurricane Katia as it moves across the Atlantic Ocean. Currently the storm lies just south of Newfoundland in Canada, but it is expected to move towards northwestern parts of the UK through the course of this weekend, arriving some time on Monday morning.   18. the NW model output for my area doesn't really fill me with fear again all could change with further model runs i guess expect the worse and hope for the best may be the thinking today
  19. thank you coast for the quick update do you think the met will need to take a firm decision today as to which model looks the most likely and issue further warnings?
  20. morning folks after a muggy thundery night what's the models saying as to the projected path of katia I take it she is still on course to hit the north worst
  21. now that the met office has issued its amber warnings I am just waiting too see now if there will be a red alert issued or not
