Very heavy snow shower lasting 15 mins just passed over us, left a covering.
-
Had a light to moderate shower around 7.30am this morning but nothing since, clear skies. Clouding up a little, looking at radar it is going to be very hit or miss but hoping we are going to see something.
-
Parts of Yorkshire getting a real battering. hoping some heads this way! Sunny and clear at present.
-
Looks like this is turning into a non event for good old leicester , sleet at the moment and just wet .
Yet up the road in Bagworth its settling quite nicely now. Roads are covered, not huge amounts yet but building up.
-
Just back from a walk with the dog and its coming down heavy. Unfortunately its sleet at best giving grass a dusting but plenty of time yet.
-
Hmm. How positive/negative do I need to be here? I thought the main event wasn't going to be until 7pm ish but looking at the radar I'm a little concerned. This morning I thought snowfest, now I'm thinking, well, hmm!

Barely a sausage!

As for here in North West Leicestershire. We have a good reasonable covering on grass and side streets but all roads running just about fine. Last 30-45mins it has stopped altogether. Not sure we're going to see too much more until tonight.
-
Anyone have thoughts/ideas about timings for the good stuff tonight and how long we're likely to see it snow for. Supposed to have my bro in law down from Huddersfield!?!
-
Bloody hell this is turning into a potentially huge event. I am trying not to get too excited but the latest BBC forecast have large parts of the Midlands under snow from around 4-5am tomorrow until the end of Saturday! Due to drive to Scotland on Sunday. Hmmm.
-
Heavily snowing here, huge big blobs. Snowing for over an hour, grass covered. Pleasant surprise.
-
Latest BBC forecast giving out significant snow for much of us on Friday.
-
Local radio say we're in for significant snow Friday afternoon/evening. So, thats confirmation. No snow Friday.

BBC East Midlands weather reports are from people that are not actually weather forecasters. They just read it out. They also do local East Midlands Radio and whenever they are asked a question about the technical side of the weather they always say I don't know or will come back to you. Poor effort BBC Local.
Yes, I've had local radio on a lot this week and the forecasts are so terribly vague and wrong! This morning they said snow coming in at lunchtime, clearing by 3-4pm! It is still snowing, albeit lightly and has been since 9am!
-
They must be focusing on Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire as this is true for around here, but certainly not true for the rest of the East Midlands. I missed it, did they say they expect 30-60cm of snow overnight with 90mph winds.... or a few flurries and some mist lol?
Yes, should have realised that. They didn't commit themselves to much as usual and no real mention of the 12 hours of snow in Leicester! My school in Coalville is closed!

East Midlands weather just now: "We've had a little bit of snow today, coming a bit later than we expected" eh? Got to love BBC forecasts, so poor.
-
Slowed down to snizzle now which is a shame, still been a brilliant day though! Snow non-stop since 10am, almost 7 hours now.
What is amazing me about this system is that it's not moving Northwards much at all. I didn't expect it to move East to West like it's been doing for most the day. I thought we'd maybe get 3 hours snowfall before it moved away North.
Is that our lot do you think Andy?

Actually stopped here in Leicester now.
-
Good ol Fernhurst! Lived at number 11 until June, we had to sell up as my Nan owned it and moved into a care home. I bet the road is actually impossible to drive up today. I'm not too far away from there now though, just next to Western Park. The snow is just relentless, there's been no let up since it started around 10am! If this carries on it will end up being a better event than Friday and Friday was a superb event.
I've been here 3 hours and one 4x4 has gone by in all that time. Kingway was startingto struggle when I arrived, not been out yet to take a look, will head to Mossdale with dogs later. Did think the snow has lost a little intensity in last 10 mins or so?
-
Based at my in-laws in Leicester on a road Andy knows well. Was hoping to head back tonight but this road alone is impassable. Due to head to Coalville in the morning - not sure how easy thats going to be!
-
Snow seems to be getting heavier, has been snowing steadily since 9am. Only a dusting on the roads but slowly starting to accumulate. This seems similar to Friday where we had steady snow for a few hours that was making litle impact before it really started to come down. Have loads of work to do today but can't stop window watching. Wondering how many schools might end up being closed tomorrow!?!
-
Its been snowing here lightly - moderately since 9am and already putting a dusting on the roads. Today is going to be very interesting!!
-
Just been out in the countryside towards Thornton with the dog. Very deep snow though the main roads and even some of the side roads are quite passable now.
-
The latest BBC forecast I saw has snow moving Northwards on Sunday from the South East over the East Of England. The only question at the moment is how far West it will spread.

Huge blizzard at around 4pm today left minor roads as well as busier ones struggling. Hoping for a good downfall tonight, would rather there was enough to make my decision about leaving the house or not easier tomorrow!
