Woke in Bas today to find about an inch at the most, throughout the day we have had the odd flurry with a slight melting on pavements, however last half hour OMG its chucking it down, massive flakes and settling now fast, ive got to go to work in an hours time and will finish at 10pm, not driving will be car sharing tonight. Any ideas on roughly what we should expect to see in the next few hours in Basildon anyone please? would hate to be stranded at work!!!! thanks

  9. Our lorries are having a nightmare getting out tonight, It was our trunk driver who said that the 127 was bad, I only had to go from Burnt Mills to near Bas town, just glad to be home now, as we were clearing our cars the girls all said about how quiet it was, there was hardly any noise from 127 lol. Anyway a quick pic of the garden taken 5 mins ago:
  10. I have just had an awful drive home from work, all the roads including main roads (including A127) are thick with snow, did not drive out of 3rd gear and above 20mph all the way home no roads been gritted at all, the snow was hitting the windscreen really fast, we all had a cardboard box cut up to use to clear our cars, a good inch at least has settled here cannot see the grass and its still coming down in huge flakes.
  11. Thats a big old clump heading our way isnt it? just read on another forum that up north they have had 4 inches this afternoon!!! bring it on, I know my OH cannot work but hey who needs money! Temp here is 4.3c dewpoint -1.8

  17. A127 closed between Warley and Halfway House, A12 Northbound at Chelmsford closed, A127 sliproad (both direcions) for A130 closed, all due to flooding!!! take care out on the roads in Essex today!
  18. We had a power cut on Friday afternoon for over 4 hours apparently something to do with gas pipes and being too close to the electric cables!!!!
  19. Just in from work, drive home was un eventful only had to use the wipers a couple of times to clear road spray, no rain/sleet/snow atm here. Just before we left we had a call from Athersone hub (our lorries have to go there tonight) to say heavy snow falling, just for an idea of how far up north its travelling. Temp here atm is 3.7c dewpoin 2.5c
  20. Can someone tell me what "much precipitation" means - just that on Basildon weather is says this plus stormy. Many thanks. Edit that, its just changed to "precipitation very unsettled".
  21. If the rain continues we will need a boat, fields and roads flooding in areas.
