  1. I wouldn't know one model from another but I do like it when a couple of posters that do use terms like snowfest and snow train. Nice one, hoping it comes off, I do enjoy a wee bit of snow.

Edit: A bit off the topic from weather but I used to be able to see peoples locations, where did they all go, did I change something?

  2. Here Baltic, just got some good quality manure delivered to me by the local farmer so will be digging it into the vegetable patch over the next day or two, its brilliant stuff nearly as good as the sh it the models have had us believing a couple of time this year ;)

That gave me a real genuine lol, brilliant, thank you Pomeroysnow for that gem.

  3. I can't really give you any advice on that particular model but for what it's worth I also bought my first weather station which hasn't arrived yet either. I checked round various model reviews and to be honest pretty much all of them were getting mixed reviews so I ended up getting this one. OS WMR100N

Most folks seem to recommend Davis models but tbh they're pretty much out of my price range and even at that some of them had their own issues, so I figured all I can do is give a cheaper model a chance. That one of yours looks pretty decent, La Crosse models seemed quite popular when I was researching.

I'm sure someone can give you much better advice about that particular model although this particular section of the forums seems quite slow. I'm not sure what the forum rules are concerning linking to other forums so if I'm making a bit of a blunder here I apologise but here's a couple of links to forums where you might find information on that particular product.

  4. Just regarding the thermometer temps, see a few posts up. This is what I use, hopefully using something like this isn't banworthy on a weather forum.

As you can see it isn't something you find on the gadget show but is using something like this a waste of time or can it be regarded as moderately acurate. Maybe my wifes frosty attitude has some bearing on it as well.

  5. Hi Baltic, glad you liked the pics. The thermometer isn't in the car, it's a simple looking thing that hangs off our washing line, it's the sort you'd see maybe in the likes of a garden centre. I've maybe mentioned before I've no idea how accurate it is and I've no doubt it's cheap, my dad had a couple and gave me one.

Will post a pic just to clarify what type it is and if it's crap or not. :yahoo:

  6. Just on the subject of thermometers, I only have a cheapo thing you'd pick up in the likes of a garden centre and have always wondered if it's accurate or not. It's currently reading approx -3.8 and judging by the temps posted by mac it's maybe not that accurate. I know we would often get snow/frost when others mightn't but I'll maybe look at getting something that is classed as accurate as it would be nice to know for sure.

Edit: Just thinking we still have snow lying from the shower that we had last night, there's been very minimal thaw so I suppose it mightn't be too far out.
