  2. Aye, charts look very promising for the whole country, even for me in the very far south. ??????? Battleground and - dare I say it (touches wood) - greenie high!
  3. Trends continue to look nice. ECM has some decent charts with the right kindae features too' HP to the NW, undercutting lows to the south etc.
  4. Whit ye asking me fir! I ken fe*k all! Or maybe it's another SS? Anyway, for me, trends look good after this milder spell is over. And today's ECM 12z is on board with this. Nice towards the middle in terms ae potential. I never go near the model thread masel. Just keep an eye on the ensembles and daily runs for signs of anything interesting. I'd say it's a decent omen for this winter that there's already been some nice skiing in Scotland from early December snaw. Mibbies a straw in the wind...
  5. Jist miserable wet sleety pish here. A day for staying inside by the fire. EDIT. Still, at least the ski centres are getting it!
  6. Light snaw started blowing about here in an increasing wind. T = 2.3 °C / DP = -1.7 °C
  7. No prep here yet but not far away based on the radar. T = 2.0 C, DP = -2.0 Ground well frozen from last night. EDIT. Wind starting to pick up. Covids crap, but I love working fae hame.
  8. Glad I got oot wi the camera earlier as it's aw turned tae pish noo. Wind picking up tae. And while off topic, this is a nice we informative read for those who might need some translation skills beyond they pretty easy 'snaw / pish / hoolie'! 11. Don't you mean 'Aberdeenshire roads a winter tyre dream this morning!' I got another surprise cm or so overnight. Still lying in sheltered spots and freezing up the now.
  12. Totally. The wind was pretty much from the north here which none of the forests were used to. If they were, any trees not well rooted / sheltered by others in terms of resisting that would have been taken out long ago. The storm found the natural weak spot. Those still standing are Darwin's 'natural selection'. It was the closely spaced 'planation' pines and spruce that just toppled in swaths. The more natural beech, oak, ash and birch held their own unless they were old and rotten in the core. It's a total mess. We've previously spent many hours lopping wee dug walking paths through the wood stands around here, notably during lockdown. Formed our own local path network which everyone loved and kept improving. Most are impassable now. Word is that some of the wood owners will get round to clearing while the fallen trees are still fresh enough so worth the most for timber, but it's well beyond guy with a chainsaw level; needs full foresting equipment.
  13. So, power off since last night. Just back on now. Lunch the day: The damage from this was way worse than Bawbag. Taken out hundreds of trees locally. Roads were a mess this morning, with many folks cut off. WhatsApp Video 2021-11-27 at 14.59.18.mp4 WhatsApp Video 2021-11-27 at 15.03.58.mp4 Scenes ae devastation in the gairden of fort SS.
  14. Power restored. TFFT. The candles were lovely, but the only pre-downloaded movie we could find on a device with battery power was Frozen II.
  15. Lost power for a few mins earlier. Weird sounds outside at times. As quick a look as possible and all gairden furniture, sheds etc still present and correct. Fir the now at least. Dugs dinnae seem too keen about going out for a pee. EDIT. Nae snaw, jist pish.
  16. My folks in Carrbridge are reporting their power is out. Although the mobile network must be still up. Heavy wet snaw here for some time, but nothing sticking. Seems to be lying off the road at Soutra on the A68. Power Track POWERTRACK.SSEN.CO.UK Power Cuts Map WWW.SPENERGYNETWORKS.CO.UK EDIT. Pic of glenshee from the BBC

  21. These are so awesome. I've found plenty pics, but vids are rare. Funny thing is, very little has changed. It was never a winder wonderland. Always relied on decent snowstorms filling up the northern corries. EDIT the slush bumps of Scotland were legendary.
