  1. What a surprise this morning, 2 to 3 inches of snow. Kid's schools closed again! Wasn't expecting it which makes it all the more enjoyable.
  2. Just looked out of the window and everything is white and it's still snowing. Pleasant surprise and I just hope it continues.
  3. The dew point has been all over the place today as in the last hour is gone from 0.5 down to -1.5 and then back up to the current reading 0.9. As someone mentioned the wind is a westerly and it must be dragging in less cold air.
  4. Re the relatively high air temps I noticed that on the met office website the temp at midnight it forecast to be 4c and that it only falls later. I'm nervous about the high temp, but it is in line with the forecast and also the dew point is currently at -0.9 so at least that's ok. Fingers crossed!
  5. Temp here is Mumbles is relatively high at 4.4, but perhaps more importantly the dew point is dropping and is now at -2.1. However, there is a band of precipitation approaching so will be interesting to see what falls out of the sky.
  6. Marcus, Although it's light because the ground is so cold It's actually settling down here and it's getting heavier
  7. Light rain has turned to snow here which is a surprise. Temp 0.3 DP -2.4
  8. Very light snow here with a temp of 0 and a DP of -4.5. Hopefully we will see some more substantial snow before it turns to rain later.
  9. Good news here is that the dew point temp has dropped almost a degree to 1.3 from 2.1 about 1 1/2 ago. Fingers crossed! Yes same here temp is droped about 0.2 but dew point is now down to 1.3 from 2.1.
  10. Still rain here on the coast although temp and dew point are both falling allbeit it slowly. Currently Dew: 2.1 and temp 3.3
  11. Its amazing what a bit of height can do as I'm just off Langland Corner at about 70m asl and all surfaces are covered. However, it's border line as if you go outside you can hear the dreaded drip drip.
  12. Yes its still snowing and its fairly heavy. It is settling on most surfaces including the roads, but we are relatively high here so I cant confirm whether its the same along the front. The air temp has been around 0.9c having been 2.2 c when the fun started.
  13. I have to say that I didn't expect the snow to stick today but we have about 1-2cmn the grass and the (side) road outside the house is covered. Looking at the radar we could be hit by another heavy burst shortly.
  14. It is snowing, but through a combination of relatively high temp (1.9c) and it's not too heavy (unlike where Marcus is!) it isn't settling. According to the radar there are some more intense areas approaching so hopefully this will change!
  15. Its just started snowing in Mumbles. The air temp is currently 2.2c so I think this bodes well especially in light of the snow reports in the SW in low lying areas. This could be a major event!
  16. I'm measuring a temp of 0.9c on the hill between Mumbles and Langland. However I'm not hopeful for tomorrow as I'll think we'll just get wet snow at best. Having said that anywhere just a little bit further inland should be OK for snow. I remember that 1996 event well as I was living in Cwmavon about a mile up from Port Talbot and we had several inches of snow but just down the road in the town there was nothing.
  17. Still light snow here, but looking at the radar we could be in for a heavier burst.
  18. I grew up in Staffordshire during the 70s and 80s and often remember watching Pebble Mill (that programme) with the snow falling outside when we could not get to school. I now live in Swansea and as you say the compensation of great beaches does just about compensate for the (rare!) occasions that snow might fall, but doesn't.
  19. yes, it's the perfect snow as its not too wet that everything gets soaked as soon as you touch it, but its just damp enough to stick together. We could do with some more snow and I'm hoping those showers forecast for Pembrokeshire tonight manage to come as far East as Swansea.
  20. I've just heard that Swansea College is closing
  21. I'm by Langland Corner and it is snowing and showing signs of settling. However, the ground is wet and at the moment its OK, it just depends on the intensity as to whether it starts to settle properly.
  22. The light drizzle has just turned to snow here as well, although not settling yet.
  23. Now also snowing on the coast. Here's hoping it starts to stick.
