This thread is making me laugh and blush at the same time. Just 30 minutes ago I told my husband to enjoy my company in bed tonight because I'll be in the front room the rest of the week to watch for snowflakes in the streetlight.
Well netweather went from a 62% chance of snow here on Monday yesterday to 15% showing this morning. But I'm glad to see the thrills haven't disappeared completely, just postponed as Thursday is showing as 100%!
I just set this up today and am quite happy with it. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pro-Wireless-Weather-Station-interface/dp/B002LSEN52/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1260039649&sr=8-3 It's not as advanced as the Oregon one but it's enough to keep me busy and happy for the winter. I have the sensors mounted at the end of my back garden and it wirelessly transmits to the base in my house which I can connect to my laptop with a USB port and it comes with its own software for tracking.
Pretty good sized flakes coming down on Gosforth high street about 30 min ago on my drive to work. Just graupel on the A69 approaching the roundabout over the A1. The showers look pretty scattered, but at least they're there.
These are pics from Monday evening in Hexham, Northumberland. We still have some left in the garden, streets and pavements are slush. The rain last night was a disappointment, doubt we'll even see a flake the rest of the week.
