Got a few worried people on training in my office from Neath/Resolven - any updates on the weather from anyone down that area?

Just wet at the moment. Snow is falling but very light.  They won't have any issues travelling Home to Neath area.

  2. I am trying to keep feet firmly on the ground this time around Andy - so many times we have been here and let down...but it is hard to stay level headed right now. excitement and a lot of hope is definitely building. Looking forward to a few flakes this week, hopefully a taster of what is to come.

  3. Just got to work on time in the early hours of this morning, after sliding down the pavement and scraping thick ice off the car.

Still cant see any snow falling for tomorrow, except for maybe the prime spots above 300m such as the Brecons, nothing substantial to shout about...however, in saying that - it is only Autumn, and any flakes this year will be a bonus after last years dreary drudgery.

  4. Had a nice icy start to the day this morning, scraping away at the windscreen - long may the cold mornings continue.

A couple of hail showers have fallen through the day, and very chilly and blustery out there.  Not sure that snow risk map is going to come to fruition this weekend JF. Maybe 200 / 250m up may see some. Hope to be wrong though. Will be a good end to Autumn!

Think that is why its so quiet in here though, people have already given up hope before the season has even begun following the past years we have had!!

However, like many of us - been busy watching the model thread for the last few weeks, and all in all, the outcome for this upcoming winter seems to be one of optimism, with buckets of hope.

We have had some miserable wet and warm winters of late, surely its time for our turn for a few snow days - looking forward to making a few " I can't come to work today" phone calls this winter. Can't wait - let the fun begin!

  5. I am sad to say I am disappointed by this coolish spell...All this hype on the mod thread, I was doubtful. ..but then the metoffice.gov.uk gave us yellow warning after yellow warning and my hopes were raised ...I am 250m up near the edge of the Brecons and thought i must see at least something worthwile... just popped outside and it's actually pretty warm out there...from this I take not to believe anything I hear from the mod thread nor from the met any more...no doubt I will continue to lurk however...going forward i will just see what is happening when I open the curtains every morning and plan my day ahead from there...2 years with no snow to shout about...guess my little girl may never see a snowflake in years to come, the way our winters are going except through photos and me sticking her hand into the freezer for effect.

  6. Tomorrow onwards is meant to get back very cold - will the showers and snow follow - and heavy enough to settle...that is the question.

Hope this week brings us warm spring like days, I can brush off the BBQ and crack open an ice cold beer then.  :yahoo:

  7. Well the met office have another warning for us for Sunday into Monday as has been mentioned - but personally not holding out much hope again at this time - expecting some showers of snow, which will melt shortly later...anything more will be a bonus. Another let down of a winter overall - though marginally better than last years. (Though that is not difficult to beat - assuming its cold, ice and snow you are after).

  8. Fingers crossed the temperatures stay low enough as this comes down the Irish sea, to dump a few inches on us all overnight....what are the chances? High for rain probably, for most of us - apart from lucky Andy on top of his mountain.

  9. I think this has gone the way of the other 'cooler' periods of Winter this year.

A few days back, looking promising for a decent snowfall Wednesday, into Thursday for a lot of Wales.

Now less than 24 hours out, will be lucky if we get a shower or 2.

Though deep down, I am still hoping here for some decent snow over the weekend, into next week; but awaiting that to downgrade by Friday/Saturday too.

Such is living were we do.
