It's currently -1.1 here.
That's the highest all day.

? Sorry youve lost me
I think he was possibly replying to my post.

The key models to look out for today are the 12zs. If they show a massive downgrade then it may be time to abandon ship - although I don't think they will.
Can an Admin please add the word "downgrade" to the swear filter?

just don't dive out of it on friday morning......

With all this ramping, if I can't lean out of an upstairs room and touch the snow there's going to be trouble!
-
Dammit, im currently in south wales but travel back to birkenhead on friday. On a scale of 1 to 10 how screwed will i be travel wise?

Fantastic 72hr chart for snow, in agreement with the UKMO & GFS. Even colder 850's fighting against the Atlantic, slightly more margin for error, with snow even to the extreme coasts.
Have you chosen an item of clothing to consume if you are wrong?

What's your take on the 12z ECM BT?
Not so good for us I fear, but better for prolonged cold?

Mods - Modifications
i.e., 12z NAE prog through Thurs considered outlier and currently discounted - but clearly if it was with support, it would have profound implications on rate of mild push into Friday etc. But UKMO-GM and GFS 12z's favoured as it stands. Very tricky, very high stakes down at Ops Centre.
Thanks again for your input Ian.
This really is a "devil if you do devil if you don't" situation for you guys wrt calling an event for Friday/Saturday.

The 12z GFS is astonishing for the region. Hypothetically, 15-20cm quite widely should something like that come to pass
Must....resist....urge...to......ramp.......

-1.1 here.
Radar is showing a bit of snow around, nothing here yet though.
Is it too early to start a little ramping for Friday?

And that hail has dropped my temp. to 1.5 and now it is snowing massive flakes!!!!!
And quickly stopped.
-
ooeerr just had a serious lashing of hail.
-
Heavy shower just went through.
Temp. fell from 4.2 to 3.1.
Cleared over but the temp. is still falling. Down to 2.9 now...
-
Well, what a complete non-event.
There are vague traces of moisture outside and that's it.
Time to get horribly drunk.
-
Radar has had me down for precipitation for a while now but nothing at all.
-
Bone dry here.
Temp. 1.6
-
Temp. back up to 1.6...
I need to check there isn't a pigeon trying to mate with my weather station..
-
Temp. went up to 1.6. Now dropped down to 1.4.
Sun gone behind cloud from the west.
-
1.2 here and sunshine.
Time to dust off the bbq.
-
The colder air aloft is starting to make it's presence felt now, temp is dropping off pretty quickly, and just checked my wind reading, and the breeze is still there.
2.3C now, although it won't drop much below 1C ish with the breeze, lows of -2C predicted for tonight.
I'm down at 1.4 now.
I'm still not sure much can save me....

Hello all.
Are we not in for " same rubbish, another winter" round here.
I have a knife handy and I can't decide which wrist to do first.
-
-2.3 light rain.
-
3.8c here. I'd like to say that the snow is melting, but all I got was flippin' rain.

Apparently if this doesn't come off, I'm having meatballs for tea on Friday.
