A band of heavy rain is sweeping eastwards across southern parts of Britain this morning. This rain will also be accompanied by strong to gale force winds.

Gusts of between 60 and 70MPH are likely, which will lead to hazardous driving conditions and a risk of structural damage, with small branches likely to fall off trees.

Heavy rainfall may also cause some localised flooding in prone areas.
