WEATHER WATCH

Weather type: Heavy Thundery Rain.

Affecting: South-east England and East Anglia

Time and Date Valid For: 01.00 - 12 noon on Monday 02nd May

Time Of Issue: 11.30 Sunday 01st May 2005.

A spell of heavy and thundery rain is expected to affect the southeast of the UK later tonight and into Monday as a wave develops on the cold front which is moving across the UK during today (Sunday).

With very warm air over the nearby continent, embedded thunderstorms are likely to develop and drift northwards with this system from France as well. At the moment, rainfall totals of up to an inch of rain seem likely, which may bring some localised, flash flooding. The heaviest rainfall looks set to occur along the Kent and East Anglian coastlines.

At the moment this system is not considered to be of enough risk to justify an alert, but this watch may be updated or upgraded to a warning if neccecary.

Confidence Level: 70%

Note: This watch should be considered a guide and we strongly recommend you stay tuned to the Met-Office/Environment agency for further warnings and updates.
