Currently clear adn cold with ice forming. Frosty this morning as temperature went down to -1C but melted quickly under a thick cloud coverage that lasted all day. There was a very light hail shower between 10 and 10.30 but nothing to even make the whole pavement wet. Highest temperature was 5C and now down to 0C.

A very light snow shower during the early hours of this morning followed by a few sunny intervals to start to the day. Snow and small hail showers arrived from the north by 1040 and continued until 1130 by which time there was about 1cm of snow lying above 300m.

After a relatively dry spell with no more than a few flakes of snow, more snow, heavy at times arrived by 1400 and continued until about 1530; after this it was dry and cloudy. Average snow depth by sunset was 4.7cm.

my thermometers have been all over the place this evening. at work in south london i was driving around all day and had a max of 5 oC in the car. when i left at around 1930 it was reading 4 oC. as i approached home it dropped away, as it always does (usually around 1-2 oC colder out here in suburbia ) to about 1.5oC. there was a very sharp gradient as i climbed towards my house but was shocked when i came inside to find the outdoor thermo reading -1.1 oC :lol: . that then rose rapidly to 0.9 oC, then down to -0.3 oC, and now is rising again and is up to 0.7 oC. that's a total change of 4.2 oC and all in the space of an hour. quite unbelievable.

it is also becoming quite cloudy so i'm expecting a little light ppn of sorts shortly. i guessing it'll be rain as i'm now up to 0.8 oC
