The Turkish city of Konya lies around 150 miles south of Ankara in central Turkey. A band of cloud pushed southeast across Turkey during Friday night into Saturday morning associated with a cold front. This brought cold northerly winds and snow to Konya. The temperature in Konya at 1200 GMT Saturday was minus 2.4 degrees Celsius, 13.5 degrees below the average March maximum.

A slow moving area of low pressure centred just west of Morocco has brought heavy showers and thunderstorms to Morocco, Algeria and southern Iberia during the last few days. The coastal resort of Agadir in western Morocco caught 13mm of rain in the 30 hours to 1200 GMT Saturday, over one third of the March average rainfall of 24mm.

The French seaside resort of Biarritz experienced early Summer temperature levels during Saturday with light winds and mainly sunny skies. At 1400 GMT Saturday the temperature was 21.8 degrees Celsius, 7 degrees above the average March maximum temperature.

During Friday and into Saturday an area of low pressure moved southeastwards from New Mexico into Texas, United States and Mexico. Del Rio lies on the border between Texas and Mexico. This system brought 13mm of rain to Del Rio during the 6 hours to 1200 GMT Saturday. That is close to the March average rainfall for Del Rio of 15mm.

The city of Almaty lies in the far southeast of Kazakstan. The maximum temperature reported in Almaty on Saturday was 22.5 degrees Celsius, over 14 degrees above the average March maximum temperature for the city.

For the guy who posted about Verkhojansk at -14c, thats a heatwave for there at this time of year!

In January, february and even early march it is usually -40 to -50c maximum temperature. It is so cold that you can only work outside for 15 minutes before your lungs freeze solid!!

A couple of weeks ago, I looked at the weather for there and it was -61c!!! :shock: minus SIXTY ONE. The mind boggles, it really does.

Ojmayakon is just as cold, and Yakutsk isn't too far behind. All of these locations can be found on the weather underground.
