Greetings all. My first posting of what I hope will be many, and with more readings as time goes on.

Currently cooler than yesterdays tropical heat. Light to moderate south-westerly wind, 8 otkas cloud, mostly cirrostratus and altostratus, but also cirrus and signs of castellanus in southern sky. Humidity, though less than yesterday, still fairly high. Pressure 1020mb, showing slight fall after remaining steady for past 6 hours.

Despite the decrease in heat it still feels thundery. Keeping a watchful eye on developments :D

Welcome Nimbus. Moderate to heavy rain in Torbay; a light westerly and about 16C. No electrical activity. You'd need a brolly, or a pac-a-mac (really! I saw 2 old women wearing them, as I was driving along the seafront; pac-a-macs really do seem to still exist!) to be comfortable.

Paul,

The rain you had in Torbay is now falling in Bristol. Started off light, but now been havy for about

30 minutes. Should be clearing away soon however.

This afternoon it has suddenly turned grey with intermittent rain, and feels much cooler. Not at all what was expected from the forecasts which showed all the muck staying further south.

Im in North Liverpool and its been lashing down (really big spots!) for about an hour, it was supposed to be dry today!

Yep even the updated Met office map for NW England and summary doesn't really show what is currently going on

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/lib/includes/f...ap0_weather.gif

"Rest of Today

Possibly a few showers but mostly dry and bright. Cooler than of late. Maximum temperature 18 deg C "

Currently it is moderate rain here with the occasional heavier burst.

A dry and fine end to the day after a period of very heavy rain from 12pm -2.30pm. A drain cover up the road was lifted 4 inches of the road due to the force of the water gushing out of it (!), that really was some very heavy rain! A cool day aswell.

Temp: 16.6C, steady

Humidity: 78%, steady

A largely cloudy evening at the moment with temperatures around 17°c, had a thundery spell of rain around lunchtime, with reports of thunder heard in the City centre (Swansea), although nothing was heard at my location (5 miles away).
