Getting The Most From A Desktop Weather Station

Hi, experts. Please move this question if it's in the wrong place.

Mrs. P. has just got a wizzy desktop weather station for her birthday: lucky me!

It gives temperature, pressure and humidity via a remote wireless sensor. The memory is 24 hr. + max/min.

2 questions: Can I use the output to calculate the dewpoint and if so, what's the procedure?

How does the forecaster work? Is it simply a function of the three variables, or something more basic than that?

No, there really are only two questions...

Don't mind plenty of detail, so feel free to explain, please.
